Due to the current generation's fascination with the modernisation of the globe, technology has taken over thus the relevance of social media platforms has been boosted incredibly. People and businesses have found that social media platforms are a more direct link to the world of consumers. As of today the number of businesses involved in this is countless. In the past, businesses were limited to using tangible means of advertising such as flyers, billboards, magazines, newspapers e.t.c some businesses even used radio announcements or televised infomercials or commercials to create awareness about their products and services but now that technology is on the rise, it has resulted in the creation of endless advertising opportunities. There are endless social media sites on the web and as of recent, applications or apps as they are popularly known have been created so as to enable the public to easily access social media sites or platforms on their electronic and smart devices, cell phones and so on. There are also endless varieties of social media sites to choose from such as myspace, twitter, facebook, instagram, youtube, path and so many more. The ones mentioned here are the most popular and the most common used for advertising purposes.
