Unit 4222-205: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care Level 3 UAN/ A601/ 8574 2.3 Identify ways to ensure that evidence of abuse is preserved Depending on the type of abuse Financial * Don’t throw away any documents which can be used in evidence, with the persons consent secure all receipts, bankbooks, statements, benefit books and any items which may help to track the individuals finance.. * Write dates, times, sign and keep copies. Physical or sexual abuse * If the abused person has a physical injury and it is appropriate to examine, always obtain their consent first. * Don’t clean up; do not remove any fibres, weapons blood and the like. * The abuse might be recent, therefore don’t touch the surrounding areas, if you have to record by a drawing or on a body map and write the colour, size or shape. * Don’t throw away any potential evidence for instance bedding or any items of clothing.
