How I learned to Snowboard. On December 8th of every year that I was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, New York we conducted a history lesson, but this was no ordinary lesson. We would meet at Dry Hill, it’s the local ski resort there. Where we spent the first half of the day learning about the history of our organization. The rest of the day we could just go have fun and ski or snowboard which ever you preferred.

Jonathan Gold Susan Yingling Engl1113_W02_079138 2 April 2012 The New Face of Hockey Hockey is a sport that has been believed to have been played as far back as 2000 B.C. There are 4,000 year old carvings found of teams playing a game that extremely resembles hockey with the use of sticks and an unknown type of projectile. Since then, we have seen signs of hockey being played throughout the times all over the globe. Over time, the sport has gotten more organized, but progressively more dangerous as the new rules and styles have developed. In New Hampshire everyone skate and snowboard. Even though I had never touched a skate board or snowboard, I created my Myspace to look like I had and that I was quite good at it too. It work, everyone that added me on Myspace believed that I could skate and snowboard (till I had to actually prove it). The point being is that I confuse my own identity and everyone else identity of me. It is not always like that
(“snowmobile”) The first patent was by Carl J. Eliason, and it came out in 1927, and was made out of recycled bike parts, skis and a small engine. From that time onwards inventors rushed to get their patents in. In The 60’s there were thirteen patents granted that ranged from sleds to Karl Lochs motor airplane, all of which were considered the ancestors of the modern snowmobile (Allyson). In 1955 Polarise made a great commitment to the single tracked snowmobile yet failed to the development and testing of the single track snowmobile, but failed to to take the leap forward when they were hit by the problems with the comet (Allyson). Joseph-Armand Bombardier was the person who really got things going for the snowmobiles, he designed, produced and marketed his Ski-doo sled in 1959.
Slow Motion As your adrenaline pumps during snowboarding while shredding down the mountain slopes on a beautiful day in the Sierras is the life. The feeling of snowboarding to me is pure serenity, but its all fun and games until someone gets hurt. I had just freshly turned 18 and felt like I was on top of the world, and could take on anything. I could do all kinds of tricks, I could spin, jump, flip, twirl, I could do it all when it came to snowboarding. I felt invincible.
In 1963, skateboarding was at a peak of popularity, and companies such as Jack's, Hobie and Makaha started holding skateboarding competitions. Skateboarding was mostly either downhill racing or freestyle. Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward and Danny Berer were some well known skateboarders at that time, but what they did looked almost completely different from what skateboarding looks like today!? Their style of skateboarding, called "freestyle", is more like dancing ballet or ice skating with a skateboard. That’s what is now called old school skateboarding and most skaters still appreciate that to this day.
