1 Before I start writing my essay, I have to make a confession that I am addicted to smoking. I started smoking at a very young age and have been addicted to nicotine for almost 9 years now. With 9 years of experience as an addict, I can say that smoking is bad for your health. As it is written on every cigarette box “smoking kills”, it does not only kill the smokers but also the people around them and it is highly addictive. Smoking is not only unhealthy but also an expensive habit which can cost you thousands of dollars per year. Cigarettes are addicted because of the nicotine they contain and nicotine is a stimulant which keeps you awake. Although many smokers claim that smoking helps them to relax, makes them feel calmer and release stress, the facts are different, negative aspects of the habit outweigh the positive. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. #2 Cigarette smoking causes a number of health problems. It is a major cause of respiratory diseases such as asthma, increases your risk of developing lung cancer and other lung diseases like bronchitis. It also leads to heart disease. Smokers can suffer from bad breathing and tooth loss. Smoking during pregnancy can lead serious complications for mother and the baby. It affects the baby’s health…show more content…
Even smokers, themselves know and experience the bad effects. They also know that they put others life in danger. But most smokers start smoking at such a young age and when you are a teenager, you do not really think about the serious health risks of smoking or death or realize how addictive it could be. Since smoking starts early in life, I think that youth should be made more aware of the fact that smoking causes cancers, heart attracts, breathlessness, etc. They should be aware of that horrible addiction kills and most smokers feel regret and desire to quit the
