Once discovered, Dr. Rosile’s initial thought was to discontinue posting answers for future exams and to disregard the entire incident. However, if not for her reputation, or the reputation of New Mexico State University, something had to be done. Rather to solely focusing on punishment of the cheaters, she rather focus efforts on obtaining learning points from this incident. These can be a tool for all scholars, educators and faculty who may be faced with a similar situation but are not aware. After thinking and careful consideration, she decided to conduct a sting with the aims of achieving three main objectives which were to discover who cheated, how and why.
There was no variety in the lessons, and even when the students were clearly lost, she continued anyway. Everything was at her pace and not that of her students and being that it was a morality class, the morals of the teacher was the only one that mattered. She made sure to push her opinion at the end of every lesson and when someone went against it, it was evident in her little notes at the end of our papers and, unfortunately for some, our grades. As a student, I felt miserable and ignored in this class. In the second class, the professor still took control, as expected, but acted as a guide rather than a dictator.
While still doing this, she persuades her readers to look at the feminine side while still considering the male perspective as well. Lastly, Sady Doyle takes all of her elements she uses throughout her article to tie all her ideas into one clear thought. As a teacher though, one has to consider if those elements make an article worth reading in their English class. Comparing Sady Doyle’s article to an article written by Alexandra Owens shows teachers that even though Sady has a well thought out article with structure and evidence, it will not be an effective article to show in an English classroom. Alexandra Owens is a female writer who has a career in the English Department and has written an article on Twilight stereotypes that is very similar to Sady Doyle’s.
Case Analysis EDU/315 – Legal & Ethical Issues in Education 06/04/2012 Teaching is no longer an aspect of impacting knowledge on students. Today, however, teachers are not only expected to tutor but also to be the guardian as for the students. Teaching upholds both legal and ethical expectations for teachers. Imagine a fifth grade teacher who during exams suspects one of the students of cheating- this she concludes after she observes the student looking across the aisle at another students paper. The teacher goes over to the student, tears the exam paper in two, and dumps it in the dustbin.
Her assessment of student discussions, projects, and papers has proven that they have “gotten” it. However, the principal looks over her bifocals in a disapproving manner and scolds, “Well that’s fine, but can they pass the test?” (Berbue, /, p. 264) (Moore, n.d.)It made me realize that some educators worry more about government mandates on testing and keeping funding, than really what the students is
Your son or daughter has just got a mock exam/test result and has failed miserably. He/she did lots of revision, but said he/she had a complete blank when faced with the paper. So what went wrong? Here are the top reasons why students fail. 1.
First I will start with the negatives of the No Child Left Behind Act and its standardized testing. This test narrows the curriculum in which the teachers teach, focusing on mainly math, reading, and writing. This is also known as teachers “teaching to the test”. Each state prepares their own test and standards and that itself leaves a chance for inadequate testing because the state may administer a low standard versus other states. There is also an increase with the shortage of teachers because the NCLB Act requires a certain level of teachers all of them must take many test themselves and that determines if they are able to continue to teach.
Which method of organization does Britt use to arrange her essay? How effectively does she switch between her two subjects of “sloppy” and “neat”? Mrs. Britt seems to have used the compare and contrast method of organization in this essay. Mrs. Britt is very effective in switching between her two subjects because she clearly separates them into two portions of her essay. 6.
It’s apparent in Myung-Ok Lee’s article of her subjectivity towards the topic as she writes, “If we want to understand how much teachers are worth, we should remember how much we were formed by our own schooldays.”(2011). Myung-Ok Lee’s subjectivity has affected her perspective and attitude, which is expressed by her personal experience and the tone of her article. She appears frustrated about the controversy of basing teachers value and pay on just test scores and statistics. As a teacher there might be times when my own subjectivity on a topic could conflict with what I am expected to teach. Near the end of fifth grade my local elementary school teaches sex education to the students.
What Do You feel Is Keeping You From Being Successful? The first, and one of the main things that i believe is hindering me from being successful is that i lack the proper study skills. I honestly can say that I do not go over the material from my classes until it starts to build up, or when the test is just around the corner. It wasn't until when I started recieving my grades back that I noticed I was doing poorly and realized something has to change. I figured that since I took Chemistry and Biology in High School that the classes wouldn't be difficult.
