One of the reason that VanAdams dropped out was because he let a couple failing grades get under his skin. With one of Whitbourne’s viewpoints being academically unprepared, VanAdams thought academics would not be a factor for him in his freshmen year of college. VanAdams knew he was intelligent and so he thought he could just fly threw classes and ace them like in high school. The reasoning that Whitbourne gives for high school seniors being academically unprepared is that college it demands more time for studying and reading. I agree to this statement because it is very true.
During the year over which the letters span, this friend becomes the unwitting outlet for Charlie’s coming-of-age. Always a bit of an introvert, a “wallflower”, Charlie decides that this year will be different – and so it is, as he finally makes some connections with the likes of high school seniors; Sam and Patrick. He even finds friendship with his English teacher, Bill, who encourages him to participate in life. Charlie is silent but observant; shy but determined to please; introverted but filled with love and compassion. As well as dealing with the subject matter of a typical coming-of-age novel; Fitting in, puberty, first love etc.
He never met him\her. Otherwise he did not make a real friend until his freshmen year of high school and that where this novel is taken place. Charlie firsts day of high school was extremely hair-rising for him. He has not left his house all summer. At school, Charlie finds a friend and mentor in his English teacher, Bill.
Early on in the semester Pudge is kicked out of his World Religion class for daydreaming and is admonished by his teacher, Dr. Hyde, for not being present in the moment. Pudge grows closer to his new friends as the Colonel is kicked out of every basketball game for jeering too much, Alaska tutors Pudge in pre-calculus, and the group is caught smoking by the dean of students, Mr. Starnes (known as the Eagle), at their favourite hangout spot, the Smoking Hole. An important element to their friendship is trust. Although Takumi reveals Alaska was the one who ratted out her roommate the year before and Pudge is unsure about trusting Alaska, he agrees to stay on campus with her for the Thanksgiving break. The two spend their time snooping through other students’ rooms, watching porn together, and eating Thanksgiving at the Colonel’s house with his mother.

The other books just had a couple of large issues that were easy to talk about.
1.10 response ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ By Stephen Chbosky The text ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ written by Stephen Chbosky is about a boy named Charlie who has just started his first year of high school, who is socially awkward and has been since the death of his Aunty. Charlie is intelligent beyond his years but rarely shows it. He navigates his way through high school, making friends with a few seniors, two of which he becomes very close with, Patrick and Sam. Charlie’s freshman year experience is bumpy, as he comes across things like drugs and achohol, depression, first dates and ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show. An event in the film that had a major impact on my was when Charlie friends had been performing in the play of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ but one of the actors hadn’t shown up, and Charlie was asked to fill in for this person.
The primary stress in the lives of today’s college students is caused by academic pressures, financial issues and their social lives. The major cause stress in college is the academic demands, particularly during the first year. It’s no secret that many college students spend most of their time on campus stressed out. Balancing classes, tests, projects, extra-curricular activities and work is enough to make anyone feel overwhelmed (Driscoll, 2011). The workload of the freshman college student is a drastic change from the workload they experienced while in high school.

This novel/movie moved me in so many shapes and forms and really honestly deeply connected to me.
The Perks of Being a wallflower Theme Analysis Through the story of The Perk of Being a Wallflower a regular kid named Charlie struggles through his freshman year. And he finds himself with a group of friends that guide him through many things and he learns to face many obstacles through his life. He deals with drugs, sex, pain and love and he's a kid that wears his heart at his sleeves. This story helps portray the theme of "growing up." A wallflower is classified as a late bloomer which is presented that Charlie has somewhat a child like view on the world and it's all about to hit him.
