Associate Level Material Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet Part 1 For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions. Physical health: Maintaining my health is important. I am a physically active person, who eats properly. I was diagnosed this past year with cardiomyopathy. They have found no biological cause, however they suspect it was caused by a virus. I have to see my cardiologist every six months for diagnostic testing to evaluate my heart function and progression of the myopathy. Whenever I get sick, I must seek medical attention and immediately start treatment, even for things like the common cold because my heart may become over stressed from the illness and potentially cause an infarct. Social health: I interact with many people on a daily basis, it is important to be able to read a person and connect with them. I have many friends from different social and economic backgrounds. I find that I have been able to adapt and maneuver in any social group and make friends. Understanding a person’s personality helps one to become a better friend. Intellectual health: I am able to make decisions that will produce the best outcome for all involved. I handle situations logically, instead of reactionary. When faced with tough decisions where the outcome has no favorable conclusion, I look at all possible avenues for a solution, and base my decision on the one that will have the least collateral damage. Environmental health: Keeping my home clean is important. I do not clean with harsh or toxic chemicals. I use vinegar, water and baking soda.
