Lifelong Wellness How do you plan on maintaining lifelong wellness? First of all, I have to consider what the definition of wellness is. According to the book, “Invitation to Health with Pretests,” wellness is defined as a, “purposeful, enjoyable living or more specifically, a deliberate lifestyle choice characterized by personal responsibility and optimal enhancement of physical, mental, and spiritual health” (Hales 4). Also, the book mentioned that our health reflect the six dimensions of health; physical, social, intellectual, environmental, emotional, and spiritual health. So, in order to maintain lifelong wellness, we have to maintain all of these dimensions of health. Physical health is the ability to perform the normal activities of daily living (Hales 4). For example, my daily walking is a form of physical fitness that will create better physical health; this helps build up my muscles and allows my blood to run smooth through my body. Also, walking creates weight loss that will improve my overall health. People with good physical health will have a lower chance of getting sick because the physical health in their body will help build up the immune system to help protect them from sickness. However, only exercise may not be enough to get you into good physical health. In order to get yourself into good physical health, you must also eat healthy food. Healthy food helps allow my blood to run smoothly in my body, helps build up my muscles, and fight against cancers such as stomach cancer, lung cancer, and etc. Therefore, food is meant to be fuel for the incredible machine that is in your body. What I eat has an impact on my body, plain and simple. In addition, physical health is the best fitness for me to reduce stress. For example, if you are playing sports, you must always have fun because it can help you to stop stressing out. As we all know, people smoke
