Part 1 For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions. Physical health: Is the overall condition of someone’s body such as body size and shape, susceptibility to disease and disorders, physical fitness, body functions and responsiveness. An activity that is done in my daily life because of my physical disability is range of motion, which helps keep my tendons and ligaments flexible preventing them from locking up. Social health: Is someone’s ability to interact and get along with others, adapt to social situations, and daily behaviors in society. My belief on this health dimension is that it is important for someone’s mental health. For example last year I was in an acute state because of pneumonia having to spend 6 weeks in the hospital. If it wasn’t for my family and friends continuous visits, I probably would have felt depressed and hopeless. They gave me hope to see the next day and keep myself in a positive mood. Intellectual health: Is someone’s ability to learn, reason, think clearly, analyze critically, and use brain power effectively in life’s challenges. Also to learn from successes, mistakes, and make responsible decisions. One characteristic about me or activity I do is watch educational television shows like The Doctors, Survivor man, and Dual Survival to broaden my intellect. Environmental health: Is someone’s appreciation for their environment and the role they play to protect, preserve, and improve environmental conditions. My belief is that the environment plays a huge role on everyone’s health and well-being. An activity I do for the environment is recycle re-useable material. Emotional health: Is
