She shows that she is determined by trying her best to condemn Elizabeth Proctor to death just to be with her husband John Proctor. She threatens to death any girl who goes against her revealing that she is extremely controlling. Abigail is also a very dishonest person because she steals all of her Uncle Reverend Parris money, leaving him penniless. This also shows that she is ungrateful because he took her in, and now does this to him. This quote “[…] Let either of you breathe a word and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you.” Shows her desperation and truly violent mind while she tries to control the mistake she’s made, but to control this mistake she must control those around her who know of it.
She was determined to get a rise so she could afford to survive. Mr Birling noticed Eva boosting the spirit of his workers and convincing them to strike so he fired her, as any other business owner living in a big house would have done. (in those days) "We let them all come back... She had a lot to say - far too much - so she had to go!" Basically a woman had stood up to him and he didn't like it; so he fired her, not thinking about the consequences and the effect it would have on her life. Mr Birling made Eva homeless and penniless with no job and no family to go to for help.
Eva smith who also goes by the name of Daisy Renton has some sort of connection to every member of the Birling family. The writer makes sure that we never fully understand Eva so that we keep questing about who or what she really is. During the book she is presented as a leader. We see this most when she is working for Mr Birling in her factory. She takes the lead in a protest against their wages and demands higher pay.
Norma Rae's parents also work at the mill and it takes a great toll on both of them mentally and physically. Now working hard and taking care of her ill parents, Norma Rae is frustrated and disgusted of the treatment all the laborers and the sickness which bestowed on her parents. Norma Rae knows that something has to change otherwise she is putting her health in jeopardy. In the movie Norma Ray, leadership is displayed through “leading by example” and standing up for what is right, no matter the cost. Leadership can be displayed in many ways such decision making, managing, encouraging, etc.
This makes people come together to form an angry mob and turn against the government, often times giving up their lives for the cause. Monopolies are bad because they yield the process of production and keep the economy at a standstill. They make people angry and they make it impossible for others to become entrepreneurs. They overwhelm an industry and often leave it battered and bruised as a bully would leave their poor victim. It is companies such as the peach farm that force people’s insanity and revoke their sense of ownership and livelihood.
In essence she is a dictator and takes advantage of the other workers, and the patients. Nurse Ratched humiliates the poor patients, which makes them lose faith in humanity, and lose their dignity. They no longer feel like they are men because during the therapy meetings she always makes them talk about topics that are reasons for why their life is horrible. During the therapy
“We are responsible for each other” it’s one of the concluding quotes that Inspector Goole left the Birling family with, looking at each of them ironically. He, who represents the voice of conscience, shows that all actions do have consequences and doing something like firing an employee from a job can turn into a series of bad happenings. Each character of the play have a responsibility of Eva’s Smith death. The Inspector wanted each member of the family to share the responsibility of Eva's death: he tells them, "each of you helped to kill her." Mr.Birling is responsible since he has sacked her of job because she asked for rise in her salary.
This shows Abigails desire to belong not only to proctor but also within the community, by taking Elizabeth’s position. Thomas Putnam seeks revenge on Francis Nurse by accusing his wife, Rebecca, of murdering Ann Putnam’s babies through supernatural means. This shows us that Thomas Putnam is accusing Rebecca nurse of murdering Ann Putnam’s babies in order to feel a sense of belonging in the community and create anarchy in the community. In Act four, Reverend Hale reports that the town is in great confusion because of the hysteria, using visual images of homeless orphans wondering the streets, abandoned cattle and rotting crops, showing that no one belongs in
Abigail deceives her closest friends and many other well respected townspeople. She manipulates the whole town and begins to gain power and control over everyone. Soon, Abigail starts to get revenge on the people from her past by accusing them of witchcraft. She goes after Proctors wife Elizabeth. Abigail previously worked for the Proctors until Elizabeth became aware of the affair between her and John.
