He leaves Corinth and travels to Thebes, and on the way he unknowingly kills his father during a quarrel. After saving Thebes from the Sphinx, he is given the hand of Queen Jocasta, his mother, for marriage and he becomes the new king of Thebes. One of the many reasons Oedipus is a coward is that he didn’t want to face his parent s again. His thought at the moment when he blinds himself is that if he killed himself he will see his real parents in the underworld, who he had committed those crimes against. Instead of repenting for his sins he escapes them.
Creon’s tragic flaw is that he is to prideful. Creon insists on killing Antigone because she disobeyed his decree. When Haimon questions his decision, Creon replies by saying,” I’ll have no dealing with law breakers” (792, 35-36). Creon is explaining to Haimon that he will not deal with any rule breakers and that Antigone will be put to die along with her traitor of a brother. Creon’s pride is what leads to the death of Haimon, his son, and the Queen, his wife.
Her father doesn’t help the situation because he shields her from the outside world and “chases away potential suitors because none of them are good enough for his daughter” (p.6”A Rose for Emily”). Her father is very controlling of her and this contributes to her being a little off down the road. Goneril and Regan pledge their love for their father, while Cordelia refuses to speak and when probed finally states that she cannot “heave her heart into her mouth,” (Act I p.7 96-97) that she loves him exactly as much as a daughter should love her father, and that her sisters wouldn’t have husbands if they loved their father as much as they claim. An enraged Lear disowns Cordelia and splits her share of the kingdom between the remaining two sisters. This is a prime example of the beginning of destruction across familial, personal and social aspects. Lear pits his daughters against one another in a selfish endeavour to boost his own pride, but in doing this he also destroys a very crucial aspect within the monarchy by removing the one daughter who has not saught out to destroy him and the foundation he had built for his kingdom. In disowning Cordelia this breaks the natural order of things because in doing so he has severed the natural bond that a father and daughter share, as well he has personally destructed himself with this decision because he has given up on his favoured daughter.

Gilgamesh was King of Uruk. Ishtar proposed marriage to King Gilgamesh and he rejected her with insults. He spoke of her past lovers and what they endured while with her. Ishtar then goes to her father, Anu, enraged from the insults. She commanded her father to let the bull of heaven free to wreak havoc amongst Gilgamesh.
Hera proposed that in order for Hercules to be forgiven he is to perform 12 labors. Once Hercules is told about his quest he must complete he separates from his home and goes out to complete the 12 labors the King informed him about. Hercules begins his initiation by visiting and slaying the Nemian Lion which had an indestructible pelt, knowing this he strangles it to death using his strength. His second labor was a treacherous one because he had to destroy the multi headed Hydra. The Hydra is a snake that regenerates heads after you slice one off.

Gilgamesh determine to find Utnapishtim hoping that Utnapishtim can tell him how he might avoid death too. Utnapishtim’s wife convinces him to tell Gilgamesh about a plant that restores youth. Gilgamesh finds the plant and takes it with him, But a snake steals the plant one night while he was camping.
