Winston Churchill was born in 1874 at Blenheim Palace; he is the son of Randolph Churchill and Jenny Jerome. Churchill was brought up by his nanny before being sent away to boarding school. Winston Churchill was a career soldier and war reporter before entering politics in 1901.He served in the War Cabinet in World War I and with British forces in France 1915-1917. He also was appointed Prime Minister of the British coalition government in World War II and was knighted in 1953.Winston Churchill Died in January 15, 1965 in London. In 2004 Churchill was voted greatest Briton in a nationwide survey. Franklin D. Roosevelt was born into a noted wealthy family in January 30, 1882 in New York. After attending law school and working in a Wall Street law firm, he married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt in 1905.US President Teddy Roosevelt inspired Franklin in politics and won a seat as a democrat in the New York State Senate in 1910. Between 1913 and 1920 he was Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President Woodrow Wilson. Roosevelt was elected in 1936, 1940and 1944 the only US president to win four consecutive elections. Roosevelt died in April 12, 1945 in warm springs, Georgia. Winston Churchill's school career at Harrow was ordinary and after one failed try he was only accepted at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. He felt mentally inferior because of his lack of a university education and also regretted the lack of practice in public speaking that he would have gained at university debates. He suffered from a slight lisp and a stammer; he visited speech therapists and practiced both words and gestures in front of a mirror until he had after being elected Prime Minister in 1940 and forming his coalition cabinet, and it was “I have nothing .to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat”(Montefiore 91).
