Simulations Reflection Paper University of Phoenix Lessons Learned “Thinking Strategically” In this simulation the objective was to gather the optimum information required to develop long-term objectives. This exercise was beneficial in understanding the importance of having good information in order to formulate long-term objectives. The “Thinking Strategically” simulation helped me learn how to create long-term objectives that are measurable while accomplishing the strategy. As a result of my lessons learned, I decided to research various sources of information in the specialty chemicals industry. I saw how valuable it was for BJ’s to have the optimum information available in order for them to formulate an appropriate strategy. I also used the SWOT analysis tool in the development of my strategic plan to help me identify all of my company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. I only wish there was a similar tool available for me to use when formulating my own company’s strategy. I was able to use the concept of creating a roadmap by selecting action items that help accomplish the overall objective to my strategy. The roadmap tool is helpful because creating a company strategy seems like a grand undertaking, but when you break it out into segments as with the roadmap, it becomes easier to focus on and tie back to the main
