Simproject is a dynamic business exercise designed for students enrolled in courses that emphasize the importance of developing project management skills. Because the simulation is designed to offer instructors maximum flexibility, we have included scenarios that bring into clear focus project management challenges within a variety of professions, including new product development, process conversion, construction, and information technology development and implementation. As such, the simulation can be used in academic settings within schools of business, engineering, hospitality management, information and systems, and architecture (simprojectonline.com, 2011).
Simproject was one of the hardest projects we had to work on. We were competing against three other teams and we were competing for contractors that would do the work for us. During the competition each week we were ranked at the job done well. Unfortunately we had a few bad periods however our worst week was during period number two. For period two we were ranked last which was a rough experience.
Team Name | Time | Cost | Functionality | Stakeholder | Overall | Rank | | Team 2 | 100% | 81% | 56% | 69% | 100% | 1 | | Team 3 | 0% | 100% | 100% | 96% | 71% | 2 | | Team 4 | 9% | 79% | 0% | 100% | 41% | 3 | | Team 1 | 30% | 0% | 66% | 0% | 0% | 4 | |
The good news is we met our period milestones however we did go through a few mistakes. The first mistake was we paid too much money for unnecessary projects. We had our Project Manager do some training and that cost us a lot of money which was unnecessary. Also the work that was missed because of the training hours that put the whole project behind. Another problem was we had some problems with the team, some workers were not showing up. Our paving person did not show up which also put us behind. Financials &
