Similarities Between Lennie In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

Lennie and George were the two best of friends. Although Lennie, is a main character, he is not very dynamic. “Behind him walked his opposite, a huge man, shapeless of face, with large, pale eyes, with tide, sloping shoulders; and he walked heavily dragging his feet a little, the way a bear drags his paws. His arms did not swing at his sides, but hung loosely.” (Steinbeck 2). So Lennie was a huge man, that was the complete opposite of his best friend. Not only were they different body types, but Lennie was Caucasian and George was African American. Lennie also was not very bright. His strong point, was his strength. He was incredibly strong but didn’t even know his own strength. He also has memory problems. George had to tell him over and over again where they were going and what they were doing. The only thing he could remember, was about rabbits and little fluffy animals. This really frustrated George. Steinbeck wrote Lennie as a very flat and boring character. “The first man was small and quick, dark of face, with restless eyes and sharp, strong features” (Steinbeck 2). George is tiny and much more intelligent than Lennie. Also, Lennie is Caucasian, and George is African American. George can be defined by a few distinct characteristics. Even though Lennie really bothers George at some points, he is a wonderfully loving and devoted friend and would never actually leave Lennie. He also seems to have a very short temper. He is always protecting Lennie. He lies to his boss at one point to make sure that Lennie got the job. Together, these two men have wonderful dreams. Lennie is always asking George to tell him the story of what they want their future to be like. They want to conjointly own their own farm, lots and lots of land. They want to be able to live in safety and comfort and not having to move from place to place for new
