Hitler and Mussolini SIMILARITIES • Both anti-communist and because of this drew a solid basis to support from all class. -They were both similar in this way beacause Hitler was agaisnt communism and wanted to ensure a communist revolt wouldn't take place again, and Hitlers policies were popular with many sections of the German people. When he came to power in 1933 he caused a great wave of enthusiam and anticipation after the weak Weimar Republic, he offered to get Germany back on her feet by the promise of action. He used military parades and propaganda to get support from all classes. Mussolini was similar as his policies were capitalistic and and he said he would help businesses and workers from all classes and would help land owning interests so support from all classes. When in power in 1922 he got minister of finance Alberto de Stefani in the years of 1922-25 to budget to show he had all the classes best insterest and heart and to stop communism rising with fascism. The difference here was that Hitler helped unemployment in Germany decrease as when he came into power they were as much as 6 million Germans unemployed but with his Work Scheme and giving jobs to teenagers to train in the army at a low wage, it decreased. However, Mussolini made employment rise as his policies were not accurate and it actually had risen so it worsened from what it already was. • Attempted to organise a totalitarian state, control industry, agriculture and the way of life of people, so that personal freedoms were limited. -Hitler laid great emphasis on the ruthlessly efficient organisation of all aspects of life under the central governemnt in order to achieve greatness, with violence and terror if necessary. The state therefore was supreme and the interests of the individual must be subordinated to the good of the state. that is the totalitarian state. This means that
