Good afternoon and welcome to our presentation. My name is Harsh Patel and today, my peers and I would like to share our research as well as our opinion on Sigma Aldrich. Sigma-Aldrich is a leading Life Science and High Technology company that is based out of St. Louis. Their biochemical, organic chemical products, kits and services are used in scientific research, including genomic and proteomic research, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical development. As one might expect, Sigma-Aldrich has a unique customer base. Their customers include life science companies, university, government institutions, hospitals, and industrial manufacturers. Currently, the Company operates in 40 countries and has approximately 9,000 employees. Sigma-Aldrich is organized into four business units. They are Essentials, SAFC, Bio Tech, and Specialties. Essentials offer the most commonly used laboratory chemicals and supplies through customized account management. SAFC offers customized development and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and diagnostic sectors. Biotech, on the other hand is responsible for producing specialty kits for life science researchers studying functional genomics, proteomics, and cell biology. Specialties division is a broad range of analytical, biochemical and chemical products. In terms of percentage breakdown, 19% of their business comes from essentials, 29% from SAFC, 15% from Bio Tech, and 37% from specialties. With more than 1.3 million customers, Sigma-Aldrich has a unique customer base. This group includes chemical and applied industrial companies, universities, government institutions, not-for-profit organizations, pharmaceutical, biotechnology companies, hospitals and commercial labs.
