OVERVIEW In the late 1980s, many researchers began the study for more effective ways in managing people. From there, many companies started to recognize that their survival depended very much on their employees and how effectively they are managed. Moreover, it is necessary that every key person including people in Management Committee understands the key role of preparing strategic human resource management plan. It helps to identify the business strategy that it can be adopted. This is one reason why Human Resource always play important role in the business plan of organizations. In the context of Globalization, the word “strategy” is often mentioned. It means accepting and involving the Human Resource function as a strategic partner in the formulation and implementation of the company's strategies. It is including all Human Resource activities that focus on recruitment of, management of, and providing direction for all the people who work in the organizations. There are many definition of “Strategic human resource management” but in general, it can be defined as the link to connect the human resources with strategic goals and objectives in order to improve business performance and develop organizational culture. It requires thinking ahead, and planning ways for a company to better satisfy the demands of its employees, and in return, for the employees to better meet the requirements of the company and driving company to achieve the specific goals. Therefore, we can understand that Strategic human resource management is a branch of Human resource management. After taking a course of Strategic Human Resource Management, I take a hard time to study and apply my gained knowledge to evaluate the Success of Unilever, a leading company of United Kingdom.
