Should Uniform Be Abolished?

Should uniform be abolished for students in compulsory education? In my opinion, uniform is good for both the students and the staff at the schools who enforce the compulsory clothing. There are a few reasons I support the view that schools are better off when their pupils wear uniform. Firstly, I believe that wearing a uniform gives the student a sense of responsibility that they have to keep to, to look smart and represent the rest of the school. This is an excellent reason to why uniform shouldn’t be abolished, but if one, or a group of people, alter the uniform to how they want to wear it, it suddenly looks quite a relaxed and unprofessional school because the rules that the uniform must be worn properly, have not been fulfilled. This also means that the teachers and other staff would have to enforce the rules that the pupils must wear their uniforms correctly, also giving the children responsibility to stick to these rules as well as look smart. This is a perfect reason for the continuation of uniform in schools because many students need the responsibility and the drive just so they attend their lessons. Another reason is that there is no need for the child to have to choose a new outfit for each day, because their outfit is already decided for them and they have no choice if they want to wear it or not. This is a good reason to keep uniform because it means that the students would have more time in the morning, meaning that less of them would be late, thus giving them a higher attendance and higher likelihood of attending all their classes. This all agrees with my view that uniform definitely shouldn’t be abolished. In addition, the child’s parents only have to pay a certain amount for one uniform which is far better than paying twice as much for just one outfit, for example. This is probably the reason that would attract the parents’ attention the
