Laura Diaz Professor: Nancy Young Composition II Argumentative Essay February 17, 2014 Should The Venezuelan people do Protest? Two weeks ago in Venezuela, a country of the Caribbean coast began protest against the government of the current president, Nicolas Maduro. The protest was initiated by the call of the leader of the opposition to the government, Leopoldo Lopez, also by the call of many students of different universities around the country, who like many Venezuelans, they felt frustrated, humiliated, disappointed, and tired of all the abuses made by the Venezuelan President and his associates. The major reasons that Venezuelans has to protest are summarized in: First, The insecurity as a result of the many cases of common crime, and corruption; Second, the poverty as a consequence of the economic breakdown of the country, and finally, the discrimination from the government to Venezuelans who believe in different ideas that the Castro Communist government of Nicolas believe. These three reasons are truly enough for me to be certain that Venezuelans who reside inside, and outside of this country must protest, and provide the world the knowledge of the injustices and crimes that are happening in the actual authoritarian and despotic government. Criminal violence in Venezuela is a syndrome in which many factors converge mutually reinforcing ways that generate more violence. In Venezuela; some of these factors are attributable to the failed policies of the first socialist president Chavez, including the collapse of the institutions responsible for implementing the law, as a result of the corruption inside of these institutions that allow impunity in many crimes just because the people in charge of the laws accept suborn.
