Military I feel like there is a lack of respect for the military and their families. They deserve more respect than society gives them. It has been said that military standers are higher than the country demands of its president. This is very true. President Clinton lied under oath, perhaps that is not perjury, but an army officer could do that. Nor could army personal have extra marital affairs. Kelly Flynn found that out when she lost her position in the air force and years of training down the drain. But for the commander chief, it is another story. While it is true that the commander chief is able to get away with misbehaver. Military personal has been warned not to criticize the chief. In fact the various branches have been reaming troops that they can be prosecuted for publicly condemning their chief and in fact there are cases pending on this very matter. In a way, this seems unfair and there is a debate as to whether or not they should be allowed to criticize the president. But that debate is only among civilians who do not understand military life. One thing that should be emphasized is that speaking one’s mind is not an option in the military. When one joins, they do so voluntarily their first amendment rights. They know this when they join. Just as a police officer is on duty 24 hours a day and it is expected to exhibit and conduct in accordance with the bondage. The military officer similarly gives up certain civilian privileges. Violation is more than just a slap on the wrist. Most recently the UK has witnessed the spectacle of the prime minister effectively being emotionally blacked mailed into the phoning the mother of a soldier who was killed in the war of Afghanistan because apparently he made a few missed spelled words when he sent her a hand written note of condolence.
