Off labeling can mean that the drug is used for a different condition than intended for, given in a different way, or given a different dosage than what is written on the drug label. This action is lawful throughout the United States and in several other countries. A rare exception to this legality would be a highly addictive narcotic such as morphine. These drugs cannot be lawfully prescribed unless done by officially approved purposes (American Cancer Society). Once a company’s drug has passed this part of the process by showing that the drug is helpful and safe (Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs 1), they have to create a drug label.
Police and court resources would be freed up for more serious crimes. Legalization would mean a lower price; thus, related crimes (like theft) would be reduced.” (Joe Messerli, Balanced Politics.org) The biggest reason that medical marijuana should be legalized is simply for the medical reasons. NormL.org states “Of all the negative consequences of marijuana prohibition, none is as tragic as the denial of medicinal cannabis to the tens of thousands of patients who could benefit from its therapeutic use.” Marijuana could provide pain relief from neuropathic pain, nausea, spasticity (from MS) Glaucoma, migraine headaches & movement disorders. Marijuana also is an appetite stimulant and HIV, AIDS, wasting syndrome and dementia patients could all benefit from marijuana. Marijuana also protects against some types of malignant tumours and are
A Drug Free Work Week is an effort from the department of U.S. secretary that promotes important information on being drug-free for the sake of keeping of safe workplaces. Today where we stand with this is there’s lots of money wasted when in turn it could be implemented in a drug-free workplace program and could be saving millions in the process. With the implementation of these programs there are lots of claims that have been reported which could have been stopped or not have happened to begin with. There is lots of lost productivity which is costly and wasting efficiency, time, and money to search for new sober employee’s; when the company has implemented a Drug Free Workplace Program that has educational investments for prevention and assistance programs that pays
“The Prescription Drug Epidemic” Since the beginning of the 1990’s drug overdose death rates have increased significantly by over 300% (Webmd.com). The shocking fact behind this is that the increase is not related to illegal drugs but rather over the counter medications that have since become more readily available in today’s society. Since the drugs are considered legal, the lines of drug abuse have been skewed in years past and many users assume these are safer than their illegal counterparts when that is not the case. Prescription drugs are equally, if not, more dangerous than illicit drugs. In order to decrease the abuse of prescription medications we must understand where these drugs are coming from, what their effects are on the mind and body, as well as what can be done to prevent these drugs from getting into the wrong hands.
Drug enforcement in these states is extremely vigilant, and penalties for illegal possession of marijuana are strict. However, it is possible that this strict policing of possessors of marijuana are making prescriptions more acceptable in the eyes of the law. Movements to legalize marijuana for general use may be less effective in the current conservative cultural atmosphere than efforts to restrict illegal marijuana trade combined with increased interest in the medical benefits of marijuana use. Studies that reveal these benefits are plentiful, and readily available to the medical and scientific community. Pharmaceutics researchers should take marijuana more seriously as a source of new treatments, especially in the field of AIDS research, where promising treatments are few and far between.
Situation Analysis. Metabical is a new prescription drug that claims to be a safe and an effective way of losing weight for moderately overweight individuals. This drug has the differentiation of FDA approval and a comprehensive support program for post purchase support. The problem is in deciding what positioning, target market, segment and marketing mix to use as initial rollout of the product, in a time when the consumers are skeptical of weight loss drugs due to of deceptive marketing stigmas. The mix should have a sufficient initial impact and long term viability on sales so as to recover CSP initial investment of $400 million in 10 years.
Legalizing drugs in the state of California would help economy wise. Legalizing marijuana alone they estimate $40 billion to $110 billion, not that those numbers are correct there an estimate based on the responders that take surveys on how honest they are, determines the number. Legalizing marijuana is like deviant behavior not everyone sees it the same or have the same meaning and understanding. For instance, one that has never used marijuana would have a poor judgment on the illicit drug, as for, someone that has used it would think otherwise. The part where it really keeps me interested and tuned in to see where the State of California goes is what drugs to legalize/decriminalize makes an effect not only in the economy but in society.
Americans will save a lot of money from taxes, the prison population would decrease, and the government would realize how harsh and unfair their sentencing system is. Americans would much rather old drug dealers who want to improve and change their lives back on the streets rather than having a murder or a rapist back on the streets. If the drug dealers really want to change their lives and start a new life then they should be able to get out of prison. Most of the inmates have already served more than enough time then they actually deserve. Americans need to start sticking up for what’s right in their country and should stop being bullied by the government.
Matthew Redman Grade 11 Law CLU3M1-01 Should Marijuana Be Legalized? Marijuana like any other drug is harmful to a person’s body and should not be consumed. It isn’t nearly as bad as some of other drugs though, and some scientists believe that it is less harmful than fully legal alcohol. If Marijuana were to be legalized experts say that it would bring billions of dollars into our economy. It would end lots of drug crimes, and possibly stop major drug gang wars.
Why is there countless evidence that the reason there are drugs such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, and speed? "Take a holiday from reality whenever you like, and come back without so much as a headache or a mythology. "(Huxley 54)This quote made me feel that our government puts there drugs here to “condition” us in a way. These aspects of life seem to me like a way for the government to do things like population control and to get rid of lower class, by having drugs readily available for us the consumers. If the government were to advertise drugs I think it would go something similar to "A gramme is better than a damn.” (Huxley
