Should smoking be banned? Do you know that smoking affects you and the others around you? Smoking is very popular for elderly and teenagers in almost every country. Smoking has existed for centuries all over the world. Smoking should be banned because it is bad for health, it changes your body in ways you might not like and it can have a bad influence on others. The first reason why smoking should be banned is because it causes health issues. The smoke from cigarettes has life threatening chemicals in them. Tobacco smoking causes far more illness and death than any other drug. When you smoke, it paralyses the tiny cilia that clean out the nasty matter from your lungs so all the smoke stays on your lungs and your lungs start to become black. Then you may get lung cancer and you may develop other cancers such as throat, kidney or tongue. After you smoke, your chance of suffering from a heart attack can increase. Nearly 40% of all people who die from smoking do so due to heart disease. The smoke from the cigarette affects the way that you breathe. If you are not breathing properly, you might not be able to work, enjoy your life, play sport or do other normal everyday things. Also you might even die. Furthermore, smoking kills more than 19,000 Australians a year - more than 52 Australians each day. Therefore, many people lose their family members because of smoking and too late they realise that smoking should be banned. The next reason why smoking should be banned is because it changes your body in ways you might not like. Not only smoking damages the inside of your body, it also causes external permanent damage to the smoker’s body and voice. After every time you smoke, your teeth become yellow because of the tar.
