Persuasive Speech Should sexual education be taught in schools? Should sexual education be taught in schools? Yes, it should and here is why. Sex education has been a very controversial subject, the recent increase in sexual activity amongst teenagers shows that the subject should be revisited, people who are against sexual education in schools argue that the subject promotes promiscuity and liberal sexual attitudes in teenage students, what do you think? Imagine a 15 year old boy getting 15 year old girl pregnant because he didn't know the consequences that could happen when you have unprotected sex. When she finds out that she is pregnant, her whole life changes. What am I going to do? What about my future? How did this happen to me? What am I gonna tell my parents? it may sound like something out of a book but in fact this is a serious issue that affects many teenagers in this country every single year. Now a days you are walking around a huge amount of people who have at least once in their life time, been infected with a sexually transmitted infection -According to aids.gov, just in the year 2010 there was over 15,000 new cases of just HIV alone among 15-21 year olds - , there is also an estimate of 750,000 unwanted teen pregnancies. What is HIV ? HIV is just one of the many sexually transmitted diseases out there. HIV destroys the body's immune system by killing the blood cells that fight infection. Although there are about 20 sexually transmitted diseases, the most common are: Chlamydia Which can be transmitted during vaginal, oral, or anal sexual contact with an infected partner. Chlamydia can cause fever, abdominal pain, and unusual discharge of the penis or vagina. Chlamydia can be cured, but If Chlamydia is left untreated for a long time, a woman could actually end up being infertile Gonorrhea which is greenish discharge
