It has been said that all the violence in the world would slow down if we showed our children love and attention. So does that mean give them everything they want and never punish them? What about special needs children is it appropriate to us corporal punishment on them? So many people say do not use spanking as a form of punishment children with special needs children. Some kids with special needs do not feel pain so to spank them would be pointless.
Eventually after a few spankings here and there the child will learn from right and wrong very quickly. Depending on the degree of the spanking the child is receiving, parents should have the option of spanking their children. As ridiculous as it may sound, adults are not able to reason with many children now and days and some times and the only way for the child to actually listen to their parents is by the physical force that is needed or could be used in the situation so with that being said, yes parents should be able to spank their kids. Hebrews 11:12 for the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Discipline is an activity that takes place in the moment but always for the sake of later.
Not so much so that they are physically or mentally hurt but a small swat on the rump to get their attention is necessary at times. I do not believe that schools should ever lay a hand on my child that should be left for the parents. If there is a major problem that was caused by my child I should be called to the school to handle that problem. “The fact that over 90% of Americans are spanked as children, and most are not violent, abusive, or criminal adults, contradicts an assertion that corporal punishment unilaterally will have negative effects on children” (Oas, 2010). So if a child is spanked and it does not make them a violent person, then why is it so bad for a parent to discipline their child?
Gladwell’s argument draws your attention to the fact that at some point in life children will be children and make stupid mistakes. These mistakes are punishable however, they are mistakes done by children who deserve second chances. He makes this clear by saying, “punishment without the possibility of redemption is worse: it is the Crucifixion without Christ” (Gladwell 103). He goes a step further to remind the reader that these are kids not executives at Enron. “No Mercy” speaks to administrators and educators who at some point should ask themselves, “Is zero tolerance always the best plan for disciplinary action?” In the article Gladwell does not suggest that there should be no form of punishment for students when they do something wrong; but that a zero tolerance policy might not always be appropriate.
Most opinions still lean toward spanking being a form of abuse and that spanking a child is totally unacceptable because striking a young child will not actually teach them to be good. Spanking also hurts
If schools adopt this new form of punishment, students will become more respectful of the rule set in place by the school about leaving campus. At schools where the measure has already been adopted; students are leaving without permission less and less. The effectiveness of billiam vs. in-school suspension has no comparison. The difference that the alternative punishment makes is very clear to not only school officials, but to students as well. In order to cut down on the number of students who leave school without permission, schools should do away with their inadequate in-school suspension policy, and adopt the new alternative policy known as billiam.
Because they have their own business in school or after-school, they reject to stop their extracurricular instead to do more homework. So how to influence them to change their mind? In other word, how to let their performance same as the “A” students. Probably a lot of parents would say “No!”. Of course they can, the “C” students have same ability as the “A” students.
Yet I believe that this book, “The Chocolate War” by Robert Cormier, should be kept in schools to be read by teenagers. Many people believe that this book should be banned for the fact that it talks about bullying and violence. In a couple parts of the story, Jerry is beaten up. There are also multiple parts where the Vigils or Janza bully a kid. But that isn’t so bad that we should ban it.
Gatto says that school diminishes creativity; if anything kids discover their hidden creativeness in class while at school. He also says that kids are not able to advance in higher learning. When clearly, kids are able to follow the teacher and be able to get A's while the subjects get more extreme. Gatto says, "teachers tend to blame the kids, as you might expect"(pg. 683) from personal experiences I can say that I have had great relationships with my teachers throughout elementary school and especially High school.
Child welfare law make itself be known threw out the public. You see I was the type that was afraid of my abuser so I never told until I got old enough till I knew even if he wanted to he couldn’t hurt me anymore. I feel like there are a lot of children out there like myself that’s why I wouldn’t mind being a speaker for kids in this situation that are waiting to be grown to fight back.
