Should Punishment Be a Priority in School

Should caning should be mandatory through the high schools? We think so. "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death." (Prov. 23:13-14) “Spare the rod and spoil the child.” we believe this saying to the fullest extent. We interpret this saying as caning the child for their own good. We believe that if you cane a child for the wrong they have done, it will definitely teach them not to do it again. With no caning, just words with maybe harsh tones, will not effect children that much and will then think that they can get away with anything. Words cannot stop many children from bad behavior. Disciplining them with the cane will show what will happen if they ever tried it again. Caning in school is a sort of punishment of what might happen if you misbehaved; this is enough to make most children think twice and keep them from going too far. On the opinion of of our group, we strongly think that back in those days when are grandparents went to school and caning was mandatory, many children were more respectful, mannerly, and well disciplined. Most of the children would not even think twice about doing the act they did again. An old person, aged 87, was interviewed and he stated, “When we were in school, if we did anything out of order, punishment was bound to come” , he later went on to say, “Those beatings meant something to us in the long run, it surely made us NEVER do those things again.” I can talk on my behalf of myself that it made me the man who I am today.” Surely high school students are not too big to get caned. This will develop them into respectful and disciplined young people and will teach them how to discipline their children whenever they have done something wrong. Words or suspension alone may not stop a high school child
