For young children, parents are their primary role models. Therefore, when parents spank their children, they send a powerful message that violence is a way to respond to a problem. It is morally wrong to spank a child. Spanking has been the way of discipline for many years, but in reality it is child abuse. Spanking is also known as corporal punishment.
Hitting Children Example of Physical violence such as slapping or beating , can range from a mild to strong slap in the face causing bruising and abuse of the body of the child. Some believe that attacking children as a means of discipline and as a style of education is acceptable. They also think that it teaches them not to do things and that it prevents them from what repeating the unacceptable behavior therefore making this practice effective. The imposition of control when parents use physical violence or the threat of violence to control the behavior of the child and include beatings. This method is wrong because it had bad consequences.
Beating is defined as whipping or thrashing in punishment or an act of repeated hitting or striking (Farlex, 2010). According to Farlex (2010), Spanking is the number of slaps on the buttocks as punishment for children. Beating leads to child abuse because a parent or guardian does not know when to stop. They think beating a child repeatedly will make a child listen to them more. This is not true.
Is it the only method of discipline that works? Now what a lot of parents don’t know is that, not only does smacking have short term mental and physical effects, it also has long term psychological effects which is why I believe smacking should be banned. Research shows that smacking undermines children’s confidence, weakens their emotional relationships and encourages the use of violence to solve any conflict with people around them. Psychologists say that alcoholism, depression, masochistic fantasies and suicidal thoughts arise from being smacking during childhood. Let’s just stop for a minute and think about this, how on earth can we expect children to play with other children without hitting each other, if we as
The behaviors whether verbal or nonverbal, cause a child to be mentally manipulated or bullied into believing a loving parent is the cause of all their problems, or the enemy to be feared, hated, disrespected and avoided. Hostile parenting deprives children of their right to be loved by, and showing love for both of their parents. It is a severe form of child abuse, which puts the children in fear of their own parent. The child living in such an abusive environment is taught hatred, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. Hostile Parenting destroys a loving relationship between a parent and a child, in a way that affects the child in all aspects of their life.
There is a difference, however, between punching your child in the face, and spanking him on the bottom when he is misbehaving. Unfortunately, some parents take smacking and spanking their children too far. Some parents use physical discipline to the point where the child is receiving bruises or starts bleeding. Banning the spanking of children will not solve the real abusive cases. People who abuse their children will not stop just because it is illegal(1, Selwyn Duke , The New American).
Spanking is a form of abuse that people tend to turn a blind eye to. Besides, imagine how confusing it is for a child to be punished with a spanking for hitting another
The child could also feel a sad disappointed feeling because their parent won’t give them the attention a child should be receiving or a child could just be being neglected all together possibly by the parent just not caring, but I will tell you all about these things in my paragraphs below. First, Physical abuse: where a parent physically hits the child. The child will have unexplained burns, bites, bruises, broken bones, or black eyes. Also if the child screams and fusses that they don’t want to go or when the time comes to go home. A child could also feel as if any adult that approaches then could be harm to them.
The behavior by bullies then is virtually encouraged as students become afraid or feel that the administration will not react appropriately should they inform them of a bulling situation. Students at this age will make mistakes and react inappropriately occasionally in response to a bullying situation if they feel there is no help from the school. Clearly each incident needs to be investigated and any punishment should be appropriate based on the circumstances involved. It is clear the principles only goal in dealing with behavior issues in the school is to indentify, isolate, intimidate, and remove. This simply will not work if no effort is made to correctly indentify were and with who the problem started.
Kids are highly influential especially at a young age. A child who sees a father abusing his mother might grow up and find it acceptable to beat on his own wife and kids, alas the cycle continues. Society also play a very big part in this, we now see and accept divorce and broken families as a new normal. Since many fathers generally are not the major caretakers of their kids after a divorce, bad feeling are formed with the kids. These negative feelings are due to dads not regularly seeing and interacting with their kids.
