Taking care of newborn baby is very difficult; therefore, women always have the maternity leave from work after birthing so that they can have enough time for their child. Apart from the maternity leave, paternity is also necessary for men. Some people say that men take a very important role in their families because their wives need their support after delivery day and their infants need their care as well. The others argue that men should not have time off because of making financial problems as a consequence. It is the assertion that wives absolutely need their partner’s help after a child is born. When a woman gives birth to a baby, she is emotionally and physically drained. She herself cannot manage everything well. If she has an extra pair of hands during the first few weeks, she will be far more relaxed, quickly recovered and confident in taking care of their precious newborn. The second reason for men to have time off work is for (should be more specific) their infant. Not only mom but dad also takes an important part in their children’s development. It is claimed that the new babies need attention and care from mom and dad as well. Dad usually affects his child differently from mom because he is more physically playful which helps the baby develop the coordination and cognitive ability. Besides, a child who has a strong dad-baby relationship will be better adapted, more confident, more sociable and brighter. An opposition to the paternity leave is that it is unnecessary to have both dad and mom in parenting while man is the breadwinner. As a consequence, it will cause a large personal financial problem. When a man takes his paternity leave, his income will stop temporarily. It may be impossible for him to cover all the fees or items on the newly arrived child.
