Poor medical care is likewise dysfunctional for society, as people who are ill face greater difficulty in becoming healthy and people who are healthy are more likely to become ill. For a person to be considered legitimately sick, said Parsons, several expectations must be met. He referred to these expectations as the sick rolesick roleExpectations of how people are supposed to think and act when they are ill.. First, sick people should not be perceived as having caused their own health problem. If we eat high-fat food, become obese, and have a heart attack, we evoke less sympathy than if we had practiced good nutrition and maintained a proper weight. If someone is driving drunk and smashes into a tree, there is much less sympathy than if the driver had been sober and skidded off the road in icy weather. Second, sick people must want to get well.
The events in Johns life that interrelate to effect his further development is that he has been made redundant and has taken up smoking and heavy drinking. This will physically effect his development as the constant drinking and smoking will go onto harm his organs and can lead to liver damage, lung cancer, yellow teeth’s or failure of the organ itself. As he has consumed alcohol, it will slow him down thus making his reaction to things slower than usual. His intellect will be affected as the intoxication will affect his judgement and John will be unable to make formed decisions as he wouldn’t be able to take things seriously. His perception and views on things around him will be altered as he is unable to think straight.

Because it affects the way their body can absorb nutrients it can also lead to osteoporosis and increase their risk of bowel cancer. Some foods can be bought that are labelled ‘gluten free’ but tend to be more expensive. • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the term used to describe a condition when on inspection of the bowel everything seems normal, but the person suffers with symptoms like abdominal pain, flatulence, bloating and constipation/diarrhoea. In this situation, the children with health issues would be less likely to be infected with diseases. In addition, vaccines can help people to control the spread of some diseases which infect children. In the Frontline video, “The vaccine war: the growing debate over vaccine safety” (April, 27 2010), Dr. Brash said that people from all
In paragraph nine “Don’t Eat the Flan”, Critser mentioned that “Telling people to not eat too much food is counterproductive. Worse, it leads to ‘stigmatization’, which can lead to eating disorders, low self-esteem, and bad body image. Though the consequences of being overweight, numerous and well documented, are dangerous, little if any evidence supports the notion that it is dangerous to stigmatize unhealthy behavior.” In the physical, being overweight will cause many kinds of disease, such as endocrine disorders, diabetes, and heart disease. While along a search says that the top three causes of death in the United State are currently cerebrovascular disease, cancer, and heart disease; obesity seems push us closer to death. It is dangerous, even people have been helped out of the obesity; the obesity will leave traces on their body.
No matter how many flyers would be sent out to residences, nor how many commercials announced that pesticide would be sprayed on a particular day there are still citizens that would have been uninformed to what was taking place. The poor citizens that do have television and the uneducated citizens that would not understand what they were reading and the harmful effects that the pesticide would have on them would be the ones typically to be outdoors when the spraying is taking place. The agricultural workers in the fields would be sprayed or would handle fruit or vegetables with the residue from the pesticide and get very ill. Killing the mosquitoes is a short term fix, when in all actuality the city needs to take the money donated and educate the citizens and tourist on how to avoid contracting the West Niles Virus. Educating people how to take care of themselves is a long term solution that will not cause irreparable damage to the
The extinction of animals will cause more of what they eat this can affect humans by more humans being bite by mosquitoes. The mosquitoes population will increase and anything else that they eat. Most articles about divorce focus on the psychological and emotional end of the spectrum, but not this article. This argument touches briefly on the devastating effects of divorce on the partners, children and surrounding individuals involved but then goes into talk about how divorce also contributes to waste of energy and resources. They say in the article, “People have been talking about how to protect the environment and combat climate change, but divorce is an overlooked factor that needs to be considered”(2). They’re right, the more divorced families the more consumption of energy, water and waste, which leads to an unhealthy planet Earth. Nevertheless, many other factors contribute to the destruction of the world and our ecosystem, but divorce may very well be an overlooked piece to the puzzle.
Consuming fast food is not good for anyone involved. It causes extreme health concerns including a higher risk in disease and acquiring diabetes due to poor nutrition and sanitation in the products. Fast food is also responsible for a decline in the United States’ reputation and even harms the budgets for child public education. It is nearly impossible to defend the fast food industries and all of the horrible consequences involved with consuming fast food after reading the argument Schlosser presented in Fast Food Nation. Fast food consumption is continuing to completely destroy the nation’s economy and spread disease-causing bacteria all over the world.
To some people - I refer to them as California Health Fascists - this makes me a fool who is recklessly endangering his health. To these people, coffee is bad for your heart, gives you cancer, and makes you twitchy and unable to think straight.
