Should e-books replace traditional books? Nowadays, electronic devices such as smart phones and pads are widely used in the world. At the same time, some people think that traditional books are too heavy for students to carry and it is time to replace them using e-books. In fact, e-books are very common now and more schools have started to use them. However, some people disagree. Therefore, should e-books replace our traditional books? To me, I think we should keep using traditional books instead of e-books. In this essay, I will provide some arguments to support my view. People think that e-books are better because firstly, we do not need to carry heavy schoolbags to school. Some schoolbags are even heavier than the students themselves. Secondly, we do not need to put our pile of books in our lockers and therefore we have more space to put other things such as sport shoes, musical instruments etc. Thirdly, people can find the meaning of the word quickly instead of finding it clumsily in the thick, cumbersome dictionary. Fourthly, e-books are more interactive so we can know the answer immediately after completing the question. Last but not least, e- books are more environmental friendly because they do not consume paper so deforestation can be minimized. On the other hand, e-books have their disadvantages. They hurt our eyes, especially those students who are in growing stage. This is because e-books emit light which is not good to our eyes. Actually, some students in primary schools nowadays have myopia about 500-600 degrees and some even higher. One reason is because of the cramped area in Hong Kong. Another reason is due to playing computer games. If they use e-books every day, from morning to evening, the degree of the myopia of their eyes will increase significantly.
