Should College Students Take Part-time Jobs? The past five years has witnessed a ever-increasing number of college students who take part-time jobs according to a report on China Daily. There exists a highly-heated debate on this issue. It is controIversial issue whether taking an after-school work is a curse or a blessing. Having a part-time job before graduating from high school is essential for a successful future. Part-time jobs are very important for the development of today's youth. They help build responsibility, influence proper choices, build relationships, and even help develop self-discipline. Holding a job in high school is a very productive and gratifying experience. It rewards students with something they can use (money, privileges, etc.) rather than a letter grade or percentage for their hard work. Through this, pride, confidence, time-management and even self-satisfaction are developed which, research has proven, will help students receive higher marks in school. Holding a part-time job before graduating from high school helps harvest preparations essential for a successful development into today's modern workforce. may feel tired after the job and have no energy left to study. However, this is a challenge that the students have to face. They have to learn to balance working with studying and form a new living habit. In order to keep up in both their study and work they have to be more self-motivated. And once the students achieve this they also gain a sense of accomplishment.
