Should Cap and Gown Be Required?

Should students be permitted to add other items if clothing to their cap and gown? Recently a student in New Mexico wanted to wear traditional Native American dress over her cap and gown for her high school graduation. The school district refused to grant her request. Students should have to wear traditional cap and gown to preserve the tradition of graduation and so that it does not take away from any of the other graduates. Students should have to wear traditional cap and gown so that we can preserve the tradition of graduation. My great grandfather always said, “Once one person breaks away from tradition everything will start to fall apart.” By this he meant, if one person breaks away from tradition then everyone else will do the same. When I went to my brother’s graduation, everyone that was there Was talking about how good they looked because it was the traditional cap and gown. Therefore, the graduation was complimented by many of the attendees because of how the up coming graduates presented themselves in a traditional manner. Students need to wear traditional cap and gown to preserve the tradition of graduation. Students should have to wear traditional cap and gown so that it would not take away from the other graduates that dressed correctly. Many people may think that the graduates should add to the cap and gown however, all the graduates should dress traditionally so that nobody feels left out. Dr. Phil stated on his TV show, “When people do something out of the ordinary that draws the attention away from everybody else, it can make others feel depressed.” By this he meant, it can make people fell disheartened about what they wore. Last year during spirit week only one of my friends dressed up in the theme, and that drew a lot of attention to him; this made me somewhat depressed.
