Animation report Some of you may ask yourselves… How does one make the illusion of movement and life from a still drawing or object? With animation any story could be told in greater detail. The earliest known hand-drawn animated cartoon was made by a french artist named Émile Cohl, it released in 1908 and was called Fantasmagorie, this is considered the first animated film by film historians, the film was probably made by taking pictures of a series of drawings to make a short film. In 1919 the series Musical Mews and Feline Follies introduced who was often considered the first animated movie star, Felix the Cat. This is a type of 2D animation done using computer vector animations, vector-based animations, meaning computer generated 2D animations, uses some of the same exact techniques as traditional animation, but benefits from the lack of physical objects needed to make traditional 2D animations, as well as the ability to use computer interpolation to save time. Flash gained its mass appeal in the late 90’s, due to bandwidth restrictions many artists started using Flash to distribute short and limited animations on the internet, which were usually very small in size, these made it such a huge success among independent artists and animators and it completely exploded when YouTube started growing, and today you can find millions of Flash animations there. This is different than traditional animation though, the animator has both the option for original frame by frame style of animation and creating rigs for the characters and then move the body parts individually instead of drawing the character over and over, or combine the two. These flexibilities provides beginners with more options when approaching
