Alley Neal US History 1010 February 11, 2013 Daniel Boone I believe Daniel Boone fit in with money, power, and religion. In the beginning he almost always had his land stolen from him by lawyers and surveyors. He was always selling his property to pay for his traveling expenses towards the west. While in Cumberland Gap he hunted and processed hides and pelts which he sold in Nadkin Valley. Many people looked up to Boone for power because he helped build national pride and unity. He learned how to handle his gun, walk quietly through the woods, and sustain himself in the wilderness. I learned in high school that he walked the Appalachian Trail. I personally find it fascinating that he was here so close at one point. Since the Appalachian Trails are close to here, I figured it would be interesting to learn more about him. He loved being outdoors just like I do. I enjoy hiking and walking trails as well as he did. Learning about someone in history that liked to do things that I like, is a very broad learning time. What I can apply about Daniel Boone to today would be that no matter what the Indians did to him, he was always respectful in every way. Having that trait only shows us a little of what kind of person he is. Luckily, there are people in this world today that have respect just like he did. If more people were like him the world would be a happier place. Reading about him showed how strongly his people would fight for things that they believe in. Boone helped build roads which definitely affects our current history. Also I am sure his adventurous lifestyle has rubbed off on individuals who have learned about him.
