Calyx can run a mass of online ads in a short period of time such as before busy holidays like Valentine’s Day and Christmas even on a relatively tight budget. • Calyx could differentiate their brand and products from other major competitors who have been advertising extensively through mass-media. • Since Calyx has already received orders via their website, online advertising could make customers have a seamless shopping experience. And it could prevent customer secession and customer complaints. • Calyx could track and receive more accurate feedback through internet advertising.
Returning at a store is faster because all it takes is a drive to the store and going through their return procedure as opposed to waiting for your returned item to ship and for the appropriate department to process the return and credit your account or credit card. Though there are often size charts and detailed product descriptions online nothing compares with being able to feel and check out the product for yourself. It is nice to have the option of trying on clothing or accessories and seeing how they look on your body or face shape. It is even nice to feel the materials of non clothing items such as furniture or other household items. I for one do not like to return anything if possible and trying something out before I buy is one way I eliminate that problem.
This includes buildings and manufacturing resources. Physical resources in Sainsbury’s include tills, self-scanners, shelves, freezers, stock displays and uniforms. Sainsbury’s must have tills at all every store because they are used to scan and add up the price of products bought by a person in one transaction. Self-scanners are not a necessity although they are very useful. They are used by people who aren’t buying many items and it makes the buying process for the customer a lot quicker.
Paragraph1- In “Attention Shoppers: Your Dreams in Aisle 3,” Sharon Zukin points out that fact that there is so much ease in the way that shopping is done these days. We can shop any time of day or night, anywhere even if we don’t have a lot of money. She states that most critics blame us for buying stuff that we do not need, calling it “Affluenza,” and that the more money we have, the more we spend. Zukin also says that market researchers and mangers will try to identify what kind of things we buy as well as our spouses, brothers, parents, and even our pets and sell it to us. Finally, Zukin argues that whether study consumer guides or push wire carts from a warehouse club to mall, we’re searching for our dreams and we cannot be blamed if we find them in stores.
A potential opportunity that they could explore is to utilize self-checkout terminals in their locations. Self-checkout point of sale terminals could do many things to improve Kudler Fine Foods as a retail competitor. First, it would improve their customer service as many customers prefer to check themselves out rather than having a cashier. In today’s technology environment, “…systems can be tailored to better fit any retail environment and are more focused on improving customer service rather than cutting labor costs” (Murphey, 2009, p. 1) . Even though the prime focus of these systems is not necessarily to cut labor costs, often times they can improve efficiency.
Having an online website is great advantage as It allows customers to shop at all hours and have access to purchase all products. If for example you go into to buy a product and it is out of stock you have the option to go online and still get what you need. Additionally, the option to shop online addresses the various different customer demographics, such as individuals who are disabled, as online shopping could make shopping for groceries and other necessities a lot easier for such individuals. Therefore it is evident that technological factors have increased customer satisfaction by providing customers with an alternate shopping method. The stores can be affected in either a good or bad way by Technological factors.

Since the opening in 1992, technologies have greatly improved and the Mall of America has strived to grow and adapt to changes while still continuing to provide quality services yearly. Shopping Mall experiences can sometimes be very tedious and sometimes one only go to the mall unless the absolutely have to go. Describe the external and situational influences that steer shoppers like Ashley away from Sears. External influences would include both social and cultural aspects of consumer behavior. For example, in today’s environment consumers have choices when it comes to shopping, such as online venues, which makes competition a huge external factor. Not to mention the fact that consumers are no longer visiting malls as frequently and unfortunately for Sears, they are mostly mall-based. The increase of discount retail popularity has led to a redefining of value.
Both methods enable the shopper to compare pricing. Online access allows the shopper to narrow the search by price, regardless of the numerous different websites offering the same item. With brick and mortar shopping, the purchaser can browse sales ads and flyers as well as call the various merchants that offer the item to inquire on pricing and availability. Although a bit more time-consuming than the speed of the Internet, this would prevent multiple trips to several different stores. This presents the brick and mortar shopper with comparable convenience.
