Unfortunately, after a couple years, I had to take some time off. But, I never lost sight of that Bachelors Degree. So, after 9 years, I decided to come back to school last semester to finish the units I need to transfer to CSUN. I commonly get asked, "Why would you want to go back after all this time?" And it makes me think of my childhood when I used to attend night classes with my mother.
The person who has made an impact on my life is my father Carlos Casas, he has done this by going back to school and getting an education as an adult and this is important to me because I plan on attending college after high school. Therefore he has made several sacrifices for his education, changed his lifestyle, and this has been very important to me because of his accomplishments. First of all, my father made several sacrifices in order to go back to school. I was about five years old when my father started attending community college. Since he was out of high school for more than six years he had to take many remedial courses in order to meet the college level requirements.

Taking a year off after high school and before entering college has been widely accepted in many countries for years, but it is just starting to catch on in the U.S. The advantages of a productive break, can often give students a taste of real world experiences, and prepare them for college life by exploring a world outside what they have known. Taking time off between school to travel, work, intern, or volunteer, is exactly what many students need to relieve stress, and recharge their academic batteries before beginning their college career.

A lot of students in my home town decide to go to Southeast, our local community college, instead of going away to college: including myself.
My personal goal of obtaining an advanced degree before retirement age spurred me to start this process. Traditionally, students progress from high school to college, to graduate school, but for the last three decades, more and more adults have entered or reentered college. Enrollment of students aged 40 or older increased 235 % between 1978 and 1993 (Jackson Hardin, 2008). The number of older, nontraditional, adults returning to college gave me the courage to go forward. In my current position, I educate patients and families about disease processes, hospital plans of care, and patient goals.
Being raised in Arkansas, how can you not love the Hogs? Several family members, including my Mom, are alums at the U of A. Through the years, I have attended several sporting events, gatherings and basketball camps, so I have familiarized myself with the campus and I am truly excited about being a Razorback! I am a Senior at Greenwood High School, where I have been an Honor Roll student since my freshman year, a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Partners Club, Spanish Club, FCCLA and FBLA.
