a. Pyrite hypothesis accept/reject = Based on the results of the experiment I would accept the hypothesis on pyrite. The pH test stripe seem was slightly more yellow than orange in the second test, giving us a 0.5pH increase. b. Coal hypothesis accept/reject = Based on the results of the experiment I would reject my hypothesis. The water that I placed activated carbon in actually increased by 2pH rather than decreasing.
In fact, it is ADDED to anti-freeze to reduce it's toxicity if ingested. Nicotine Causes Cancer Nicotine has the same effect on your body as caffeine. The toxins and and carcinogens are created when tobacco leaves are burned, changing their chemical makeup. Holding tobacco leaves/concentrations against soft tissue for extended periods of time is of great concern as well. Vaping Is As Bad As Smoking Liquid nicotine does not contain the over 4,000 chemicals created when burning tobacco cigarettes.
To begin with, raising the tax will bring in more money to the government from since demand is inelastic for cigarettes and people will keep on buying them. The extra amount of income could be used to help the well being of the country and to provide more public goods. Also, cigarettes are a demerit good, a good which is considered unhealthy or damaging in some and can be physically harmful to the consumer and other surrounding, so when price increases, demand will fall. Even if it is a small fall in demand, it is most likely to be for the young smokers to demand since they have less income than adults. If more young smokers quit, the healthier the next generations will be since smoking is a main reason behind a lot of health issues including lung
Throat and lung infections, such as bronchitis, are common in long-term heavy users. Lung capacity and efficiency are significantly decreased. Increases in abnormalities in the lungs and other large airways have been observed, and are due to the additive effects of smoke on tissue . According to a 1997 study by Tashkin and Colleges “Heavy habitual marijuana smoking does not cause an accelerated decline in FEV1 with age.” However a study by Sherrill, Krzyzanowski, Bloom, and Lebowitz found the exact opposite. In comparison with smoked tobaccos, marijuana is much more obstructive of lung airways than tobacco, but has a smaller risk for cancer than that of tobacco cigarettes, something that is likely due to nicotine’s absorption and retention of radioactive compounds in fertilizers used in today’s farms.
Unfortunately many states have taken the easy road and have become over-reliant on the federal government for support. In return they are forced to relinquish power and freedom. This is one of the “cons” to following the federal mandate of the universal MLDA of 21. The main argument against lowering the MLDA again, is the inevitable rise in drunken driving related deaths. In the 1960’s and 1970’s when many states had lowered the MLDA, besides the rise in drunk-driving deaths, studies showed that people raised from childhood in under-21 states were involved in higher rates of alcohol and drug use as adults, and had a higher rate of homicides and suicides.
This is misinformation, because industrial hemp typically contains only around 0.3% THC, where as marijuana grown for its drug traits may contain anywhere from 2% to over 20% THC. These low THC levels show that trying to consume enough hemp to get “high” just wouldn’t be practical. Hemp, like marijuana, also contains another cannabinoid called CBD (Cannabidiol). CBD is known to be non-psychoactive. Hemp varieties typically contain around a 1:20 THC to CBD ratio, where as marijuana has been bred to lower percentages of CBD and may contain a 20:1 or even higher THC to CBD content ratio.
r James Holland Soci 3212 Reading for April 3 Klein and Naccarato look at the portrayal of minorities in the media. Viewers abandon local news due to low quality, but an improved quality and more crime stories tend to increase ratings. Blacks and Latinos are portrayed as criminals. Whites are overrepresented as homicide victims, especially when the perpetrator is black or Latino. Whites believe that they are more likely to be victimized by a minority; however statistics show that whites are three times more likely to victimize whites.
She also uses rhetorical devices to make the reader think about the situation as well as being involved. Cayte Williams changes the tone again, when she refers to Jane Horwood's experiences. Sunbed-tanning is rendered a dangerous addiction, especially with the mention of smoking and anorexia. In social circles, smoking and anorexia are probably the most 'frowned upon'. The dangers of smoking and anorexia both are very perilous, and to be connected with 'harmless' suntanning 'shocks' readers.
PROPERTIES OF LIQUID HYDROGEN The byproduct of its combustion with oxygen alone is water vapor (although if its combustion is with oxygen and nitrogen it can form toxic chemicals), which can be cooled with some of the liquid hydrogen. Since water is considered harmless to the environment, an engine burning it can be considered "zero emissions." Liquid hydrogen also has a much higher specific energy than gasoline, natural gas, or diesel. The density of liquid hydrogen is only 70.99 g/L (at 20 K), a relative density of just 0.07. Although the specific energy is around twice that of other fuels, this gives it a remarkably low volumetric energy density, many fold
The basis of gasification is to supply less oxidant than would be required for stoichiometric combustion of a solid fuel. Stoichiometric combustion occurs when all the carbon in the fuel is converted to CO2 and there is no excess O2 left over. Doherty, W. et al (2009) noted that the energy value of the useful gas is typically 75% of the chemical heating value of the original solid fuel and the syngas temperature will be substantially higher than the original solid fuel due to the gasification process. 2.8.5 Landfill gas (LFG) collection and utilization Landfills produce landfill gas by the degradation of organic matter under anaerobic conditions. The evaluation of any landfill gas recovery project is highly effected by the composition of waste, specifically the organic fraction, moisture level, and the “degradation” factor of different waste components.
