1.Be able to address the range of communication requirements in own role. 1.1 Review the range of groups and individuals whose communication needs must be addressed in own job role. I am employed by Alters Recruitment Ltd as an office branch manager, the company provides community care to service users in their own homes. My job role as office branch manager involves communicating with staff, service users and their families, social workers, GPs, District Nurses, community nurses and all other professionals. Communication is vital in my job role and good listening skills is of paramount importance as not all our services users and staff speak English as their first language. Communication is the meaningful exchange of information between two or more participants. It is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of ideas, feelings, intentions, attitudes, expectations, perceptions or commands, such as speech, non-verbal gestures, writings, behavior and possibly by other means such as electromagnetic. In my job role sometimes it is a challenge to communicate with some service users who do not speak English or who have the following diagnosis:  Dementia  Physical Disability  Learning Disability  Mental Disability  Sensory Disability  Language Barrier Dementia: is a term used to define various symptons of cognitive decline such as forgetfulness, impairment, speech, communication, understanding, orientation, concentration, movement and recognising familiar faces. Physical Disability: is when the the individual’s facial muscles or vocal cords their verbal communication can be affected. If it affects their bodily movement or head control it can affect their non-verbal communication.
