My goal is to make my infants feel very special, loved, and well cared for. I do this by treating each infant as an individual with his or her own needs and unique characteristics. I like to start each day by saying good morning to each infant individually. My co-teacher and I try to never be out of the room at the same time.
[pic] A GUIDE TO SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS Sense is highly committed to working practice that safeguards and protects vulnerable children from harm within the Service. We aim to provide all children within Sense with the utmost of opportunities to develop their full potential and meet their Person Centred needs. We want to ensure that children are protected and kept safe from harm when they are with our staff, Volunteers, family and friends. I will get to know each child, establish relationships with parents, and support their strengths as well as their needs. I will express my own emotions and respond to the children’s emotions, valuing their feelings and helping them express what they are feeling. But above all, I will make sure that every child feels secure in my room and are comfortable coming to me as their teacher. I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions. I feel this gives the children and parents a sense of trust.

I am responsible for the wellbeing of the individual so care and attention need to be shown to minimalize the possibility of them coming to any harm. Their wellbeing is the main priority in everything I do in my setting. I always act in their best interest and act with confidence and assurance in what you do, do not take on any tasks or projects that I feel cannot be done safely. Ask for help and support if needed.
The behaviour policy should be clear for all staff, pupils and parents to understand and be followed at all times. Anti-bullying policy The anti-bullying policy is something all pupils should follow; staff should encourage good behaviour and respect for others and prevent any form of bullying. Any child that feels they are being bullied should feel comfortable enough to talk to any member of staff and all parents should feel equally as comfortable in talking to a member of staff knowing that it will get dealt with in the right way following the policy put in place. Attendance For children and young people to get the best out of their education it is vital they attend school regularly; regular time off school will seriously affect their learning and routine. It is an offence to keep children off school without a good reason and may result in the parents being prosecuted.

The basic way of treating someone with respect is to ensure that their interest and welfare is at the forefront of all dealings and interactions with them. I have had a chance of working with children and young people with their families as a trainee teacher. I ensured that I understood what children wanted by asking their opinions and also giving them choices whenever possible. In communicating with the children and their families, I ensured I used their preferred names and gave them opportunities to raise issues of concern and ask questions. I gave the families a chance to give input on the child’s development plans and how well they felt the child’s welfare could be improved.
ECM is important as it protects children from discrimination and harm. The CASHE Statement of Values insures that all CASHE students act in a responsible manner towards the children and parents and insures that the child is always put first. The statement supports children as it has a list of criteria that all CASHE students must follow in order to maintain confidentiality and protect children in their care. This relates to my placement as is provides my supervisors with guidelines that they can make sure I follow. The statement is important because it protects children form mistreatment from CASHE students.
We as Educators are well trained and passionate. We value, respect and appreciate this uniqueness. We feel children have a right to be active participants in their own learning and must be empowered to express their views and ideas. A child's opinion must be valued for its validity to their perspective and their autonomy and initiative needs to be respected. We as Educators will protect and cherish the innocence of children and thus provide a safe and secure environment.
