Seasons There are four different seasons. Each season is diverse and unique in their own way. They all have different weather, holidays, activities, and characteristics. The first of the four seasons is winter. Winter ranges from December 21st till March 20th. Winter is a very cold and wet season. One thing that you are more likely to see during winter than any other season is snow. With snow comes sled riding and snowmen building. A few holidays that are unique to winter are Christmas, New Years, and Valentine’s Day. Next in line is spring. Spring lasts from March 20th till June 21st. Spring time temperatures tend to be cool to mildly warm. Spring air is crisp and smooth. They say, “April showers bring May flowers.” With that being said spring is typically a rainy season at first but gradually becomes drier. Also this is the time of year when plants begin growing. Most of your gardening will take place during this season. During spring is when Easter occurs. Following spring is summer. Summer goes from June 21st till September 22nd. The weather for summer time tends to be very hot in the day time and cool at night. It tends to be a very dry season. Many people go swimming during summer due to the high temperatures. Over summer students are out of school. Also during summer the U.S. celebrates its independence day, which is on July fourth. Another holiday celebrated during summer is Labor Day. The final season is fall. This season “falls” between September 22nd and December 21st. It is hot during its first month or so and then it gradually becomes cooler. Fall is the time of year when vegetation ceases to grow and the color of the leaves begin to change. Following that, this is usually the time of year when farmers harvest their crops.
