England is the most dominant part among four counties of Great Britain. The other three counties are Scotland, Wales and Northern-Ireland. However, even some centuries back, Great Britain was not united. There were troubles regarding the ruling and government system ; and often war broke out between various tribes and nations living in ancient Britain. The Romans referred to the territory as Britannia and for the time being the term Britannia has been replaced by the term Britain. Therefore it’s obvious that the origin of the term Britain or Britannia is not English. Language historians and researchers always pay attention to history of ancient England and other counties of Great Britain since England is the place where English language was originated. So, to identify the formulation of English language and the people who were contributing to grow it, we must trace back to history of ancient Britain. Present Great Britain Ancient Britain It is assumed that English language started rising around 1500 years back but this territory is not bearing such a short history concerning to its existence and the ancient people who were living here. Before the Roman invasion during the last period of 1st century B.C and the 1st century A.D, Celts were the inhabitants of Ancient England. And besides them Picts and Scots were living in the north which place is now known as Scotland. By some references it’s found that people were residing in this territory even in Paleolithic and Neolithic age. Regarding the existence of this island , some research showed that around 9500 B.C Ireland became separated from Britain and later around 6000 B.C Britain got disconnected from the rest of Europe. Stonehenge is a great instance which indicates the appearance of human being in ancient Britain.
