I'm not convinced that scientists will ever find a way of manipulating the brain to make us all much cleverer (it would probably be cheaper and far more effective to manipulate the education system). And nor do I believe that we can somehow be made much happier - not, at least, without somehow anaesthetising ourselves against the sadness and misery that is part and parcel of the human condition. When someone I love dies, I still want to be able to cry. But I do, paradoxically, see potential in one particular direction. I think it possible that we might one day be able to harness outside stimuli in such a way that creativity - surely the ultimate expression of individuality - is actually boosted rather than diminished.
GATTACA Human Genetics & Potential Discrimination In the movie, GATTAC, humans are judged by ability. I think the movie is an accurate representation of how the future is going to be. Even though it is discrimination it could be something that everyone may see in the future. If this happened then you could have a stronger worker and ones that live longer versus having a person working for you or your company that doesn’t have a strong heart and is guaranteed to not live long; the majority of the people would pick the one to live longer over the other. With all of this there is a positive effect; judging by ability can somewhat help companies by having workers that last longer and no need to fire and hire over and over again.
We can learn from this that if the population is becoming too large then we should expand our territory to therefore obtain more resources in order to sustain the population. As you can see by looking in the past, future disasters can be prevented. Another reason that learning about the Anasazi and Mound Builders would be useful is because we can improve upon their inventions to make better
So, making changes in costs and financing would go a long way toward removing the financial obstacle, that way the other recommendations have a much better chance of being successful. Reducing costs of health professions education for URM’s and low-income individuals is a recommendation that will actually help to more than just the health care profession’s diversity issues, it would
What we don’t think about is the fact that most medical and quite a few technological advancements evolved because of war. Another fact is that, although it’s hard to believe, but war makes countries use their resources better, or at least find better ways to use them. Think about it, most countries try to win wars and to do that, you need to be better than the people that you are fighting, so we use our resources better. Another thing, without war, we might not have certain medical advancements at our disposal; such as penicillin, hydrogen peroxide, and antiseptics. Life would be a lot harder if these things had never been created, wouldn’t it?
Gattaca shows us how the world will be a better place if people were genetically altered, but it also shows us how the world would be a tough place for people who weren’t genetically
Cloning seems like such an amazing thing to discover; the power over DNA manipulation might have baffled us and gotten us excited, but it is not something that is ethical. If the ability to modify the DNA of human beings is allowed to be practiced, there will be no end to what unnatural thing we will do. The technological advances that have been made in health have benefited us immensely but neither therapeutic nor reproductive cloning are wise uses of our new found knowledge. There is no doubt that with this technology, we will soon want to design our unborn children. When this becomes possible, it will not only change the process of child conception into a manufacturing process but also segregate the designer children and the naturally conceived children into two separate social classes that will eventually segregate the
This would be good because there might be less violence using extreme guns think a machine gun but on the other hand, this war helped the people in the 20th century with the technology to help us in the future. Together with this, if there was no war then the people in the 20th century would not have known what new tactics where terrible and which are very useful. This helps them because if there ever is another world war, or ever just a civil was then they will know what to do and what tactics help
Phatcharapol Mongkolkamarat Genetics Engineering Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Phatcharapol Mongkolkamarat, and today I would like to explain genetic engineering, The use of Genetic Engineering will change the world dramatically this century. Already people are being genetically modified to cure genetic diseases and disabilities. Now the questions being asked, should we enhance the human species using this technology? Creating a human without imperfections would only cause discrimination to those that have not undergone genetic editing. It would also cause competition and tension among different kinds of genetically engineered humans for dominance and power.
Not only can they help sport athletes out to make them better players but they can also cure people from very severe diseases. They also can help an average person look better and even feel better about themselves. I do not believe that steroids will be legalized within the near future due to the common public out look toward them. People are ignorant about steroids and believe what they hear and do no truly understand them and their benefits. If steroids were legalized it would give scientists a much easier opportunity to understand what they can really do and possibly figure out way to alter steroids and make them more efficient.
