I hypothesized that the name brand (sample A) would absorb better than the store brand (sample B) because the price of the name brand is higher than the store band. I conducted an experiment by pouring one cup of two different cat litters into two equal sized container with holes. Then I poured 1/3 cup of water in each of the containers. Last I measured the amount of water that went through the containers. The experiment showed that when I picked up the containers, the store brand ( sample B) had more clumps of water than the name brand (sample A). The data showed that sample A absorbs better than sample B. Cat litter is used to absorb cat waste and odors associated with cat waste. There are several types of litter, but the most commonly used is clumping litter. It usually contains granulated bentonite clay, quartz and diatomaceous silica. It is called “clumping litter” because when wet it forms clumps that are easy to remove from the rest of the loose litter. This type of litter is preferred by many consumers because it is easier to clean and smells fresher than other litters. Some people prefer to buy store brand litter because it is cheaper than the name brand litter. They feel it works the same as the name brand litter. The hypothesis for this experiment is that the name brand litter would absorb the most because the prices are higher than the store brand litter and the name brand odor would absorb
