Associate Level Material Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet Part 1 For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions. Physical health: Anything having to do with your fitness, body size, chance of disease or disorders and even your ability to do activities necessary to daily life in society. Social health: Your ability to have positive social interaction with others and behave appropriately in society. Intellectual health: Your ability to learn from situations in daily life, to think critically and reason rationally. Environmental health: Your perception of the environment around you and the ability to see how it affects you. Emotional health: Basic abilities to express emotions appropriately and control them when necessary. Things like self confidence, self esteem and love for others factor into total emotional health. Spiritual health: A person's way of living life by partaking in a particular religion or belief in a higher guiding purpose. Part 2 In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health. To me health and wellness means finding your own balance between all the dimensions of health. What works for some may not work for others and there is no set guideline for every type of person and situation. Achieving overall health may not be as rigid as being at a target weight, but getting out of an unhealthy living condition that makes other areas of your life suffer. I look at the chart illustrating the dimensions of health, and I see the importance of balance. I can look at most people close to me
