Searching Lockers Protects Everyone Why do so many students oppose locker searches in schools? Some students believe these searches invade their privacy and without a probable cause they should not be allowed. Others believe these searches help the school to be safe and therefore probable cause is not necessary. The schools should be allowed to search lockers randomly for the safety and well being of the students and staff. Only one violent student can jeopardize the safety of others.
Some schools, like the grammar schools, require a good result on the 11+. This leads to cream skimming, but also off-loading of ‘bad’ students, that for example will refuse children with learning difficulties good education, because they are “those students who won’t do well anyways”. The top students often seem to be from the middle class. They don’t suffer from material or cultural deprivation and often use the elaborated code, which makes education easier for them. This makes the schools trying to appeal to the middle class parents, to make the middle class parents choose their school and help them get their own results better.
Like my professor says “ A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” I agree that dress codes will not make public schools perfect, but i can guarantee that it will make a big difference. Dress codes will keep the students more focused on the studies rather than worrying about what other students were saying about clothing. It will definitely decrease gang fights, which are taking place because of the different colored
It also can make it easier than in the past for a student who switches schools, because now schools broadly have to follow a similar curriculum. The national curriculum was introduced to enable assessment, which also helped to compile league tables. League tables (1988 education act) are another change that has helped the education system. League tables are used to compare the academic achievements of different institutions and parents can use them to decide which school they want their child(ren) to go to. Using league tables is a good thing as if you want your child to go to a good school, you can chose the one most suitable with good education and exam results.
Landon Stewart Mrs. Luker Government A4 10/23/12 Cons of School Uniforms There are many schools in the U.S. that require their students to wear uniforms, and there are more that don't. I believe that school uniforms should not be required for a few reasons. Uniforms take away from a person's individual identity and freedom to express himself or herself. They can be costly to people depending on a family’s financial status. School uniforms can also be a very uncomfortable fashion that students would not take a liking to.
He believes uniforms help parents as well as the students. The private schools are no longer the only schools requiring the students to wear uniforms. I agree with Kelly’s proclamation that uniforms increase studying and take pressure off of parents. I also believe that uniforms help students to see themselves differently from the inside instead of just the outside. Generally schools require students to wear uniforms for the desire to increase the students’ academic levels.
How can you judge and trust a person's character just by their status? As we grow up, we are taught not to fight violence with violence, because it only leads to more harm and doesn't solve the problem in any way. If a student harms someone, why should the teacher hurt or maybe even kill the student? This teaches people the wrong values. You may be thinking that teachers are unable to stand up to students or outside threats under current school conditions, but that doesn't mean we have to take these extreme measures.
These are things like sleeping earlier, doing their homework’s, being peaceful in school so that they are not having any problems with anyone in school which could make them feel down and not wanting to go to school etc. These issue needs to be resolved because Fog City will see this number by much more because friends have influences on each other and if one drops out then the others may be influenced. There are many crimes linked to truancy “students who do not graduate from high school are far more likely to be arrested for crime and also become victims of violence” this means that not only should this issue be resolved for the sake of Fog City’s school report cards but also for the crime of the city to be reduced. (Guernsey 3) The PASS proposal may not be such a good idea because it may have negative effects on the students in the long run. According to Ripley’s paragraph 2 “Psychologists warn that money can actually make kids perform worse by cheapening the act of learning”.
I will also look at how implementing uniforms affect violence and educational concentration. Some parents and students support the uniform issue because they feel it makes all the students equal in the eyes of their peers and teachers. Whereas other parents feel that installing metal detectors will solve the same problem. Uniforms are a simplistic solution to a far greater problem. Students resort to violence and theft simply to obtain designer clothes or name brand shoes.
“Forcing students to wear school uniforms only aggravates their rebellious spirit.” More fights will start over pointless school uniforms. If everyone is dressed the same, and basically looks the same. Making students wear uniforms takes away student’s individuality and this want let them explore themselves to really see what they are. “Schools are now making students wear khakis and a shirt”. As stated in the in the “Parents battle over school uniforms” By Jim McConville.
