My son Kaleb was born May 24 2008, and from that moment on I wanted to give him everything he deserves. I tried to go back to college right after my son was born, but I had no idea what I wanted to do for my future and taking care of Kaleb wasn't cheap. I was constantly working to pay for the expenses of Kaleb, while paying for the rest of the expenses I had. Finally four years later, I made the best decision I could for my family and that was going back to school. One of the many reasons why I came back was that I did not was to continue being in a factory the rest of my life.
The University of La Verne’s core values have been present in my life throughout the years. Even though my mother wanted to attend college as I did, she didn’t have the option to so and that’s why she encourages me to try my hardest in school. When my mother was young, she dreamed of attending college in the United States and getting a job so she could support her family, whereas when I was small, I didn’t think school was important. Although my mother only attended elementary school, school was one of her top priorities because she felt like it was an honor to go to school, and if you went to school, you were considered to be lucky. My mother was an over-achiever and saw education as a way of showing that she was better than most.
My second oldest sister was never a big fan of school. She believed she was not smart enough and that school was way too hard for her. She got pregnant by the age of 19 years old; she became a young, and happy mother. Her decision of starting a family at a young age was always part of her plans; she had wanted this all along. Her choice was never based on how school made her feel but on how she felt.

This quote caught my attention because as a child who grew up with an absent father, I felt this essay really got to the heart of the problem that many children faces now a day. I was lucky in knowing my father's decision not to have anything to do with me growing up was because he resented paying support. I wish I could believe parents left for altruistic reasons, but I think those are just excuses. If they really feared screwing up their kids they could take classes, they could learn to be parents, take anger management classes. Simply, they cannot be arsed to bother.
My name is David Brice, and this is my story. I had a very good upbringing with extremely loving parents and siblings. I had the same struggles as every child has, some ups and downs but in general quite the happy childhood. My school life was a different matter, I couldn't stand it and it wasn't long before I was getting into all sorts of trouble, I took a beating from a teacher once and that was it I had a deep loathing for the teachers and couldn't wait to leave school. My family were religious and I got a bit of stick for this at school which I must admit didn't help but it wasn't the religions fault it was the cruel bigoted kids.
Living with ADHD No one should have to live with a disorder that diminishes their ability to perform the routine tasks of daily life at home and school. Having to live with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) all of my life, I have learned the true meaning of perseverance and have learned the life skills necessary to succeed in light of this disorder. ADHD sets obstacles in your path that most of your friends and schoolmates do not have to face. Having ADHD as a young child in elementary school was very difficult and frustrating for me. I felt as if no matter how hard I tried to succeed, I just could not achieve the grades or participate in the activities I desired.
