The hermit hut sub plot is a great way to define good and evil. The hermit was said to have killed his wife and son, many people read what he did and said he was a murderer. When Ellie, Fi etc. found the notes in the hermits hut they realised that the hermit was not actually a murderer but he was a hero. He killed his wife and son to save them from having a horrible death from beings severely burnt.
Haig was seen as unnecessarily ordering men to run into No man’s land while the Germans shot at the allies like fish in a barrel. Supporting the statement that General Douglas Haig is ‘the butcher of the Somme’ Many of General Haig’s own men were against him because of his tactics and underestimation of weaponry. The main reasons for the soldiers being against Haig are the fact that he constantly sent them over the top even though he knew that the Germans were ready with their machine guns and that he lived in comfort while the soldiers battled it out. The evidence is a letter, written by Lieutenant J. A. Raws of the 23rd battalion addressing his family before his death: “We are lousy, stinking, ragged, unshaven, and sleepless.
“You maggot” Cole yelled leaping to his feet “I’ll kill you” (mikealson 59). Cole finds his knife and a spear with his sappily. The spirit bear appears “You mangy dog” (61). As awful as Ed Gein was, some look at him at as a hero. He has been used as inspiration for movies like Norman Bates in Psycho, Leather face in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. They glorify a person that killed people. Ed Gein was one of the most awful murders of our time. He was mentally unstable due to his upbringing and abusive father.
He grew up to hate the English rulers of Scotland and this was made worse when his father was killed by an English Knight in Ayrshire in 1291. Later that year when he was visiting his uncle in Dundee he got into a fight with an English soldier who was stabbed to death. From that day William became an outlaw and went into hiding. During the next few years William gathered support and lived like a bandit. He was involved in many raids on the English occupiers and he avenged his father’s death by killing the English knight Fenwick.
The second stanza of “Custer Speaks” displays Custer’s prowess. He was a born warrior, fighter, and leader for wars. Then in the third stanza, his brutality fully exposes. He killed Indians without any shame. He also gave himself excuse for his atrocity: “I was forced to do that.”(P. 36) In the fourth stanza, Custer showed off his ambition—to be the president of the U.S.

George has experienced a lot of tragedy in his life but has also encountered hope. Firstly, a tragedy that George experiences is that he to kill his best friend, Lennie, by shooting him in the head. As George aimed the gun at Lennie, “[his] hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He pulled the trigger” (Steinbeck 106). This affected George because he has to live knowing that he killed his best friend.
Pocahontas was most famous for saving life of John Smith. By placing her head on his when father raised his war club to him. Smith was brought before an assembly over powerful chief Powhatan. Powhatan later sentenced him to be executed. Englishman was going to cubbled death but Pocahontas rushed forward and cradled smith’s head and beg for his life to be spared.
