A Man of Three Worlds Samuel Pallache, a Moroccan Jew in Catholic and Protestant Church Biography Samuel Pallache was a poor Jewish man in the 16th century and a Jewish man at this time was looked down upon and treated like they were a different species, also they were considered “disloyal” Pallache was forced with difficult decisions throughout his life and to make a living for himself and his family committed in many illegal acts and what was many would say very deceitful as he tried to gain access into the minds of higher power to make money. In 1605 Samuel Pallache offered to help King Phillip III as a spy for the Moroccan political situation and what was going on there. While in Spain, Pallache was also brave enough to encourage the Count of Pununvrostro to invade Larrche with a Spanish army. He dealt with all of Zaydans dealings. As well as being a trader, Samuel also proved to be a smuggler and thief while on a privateer expedition .A privateer is someone sailed a ship that funding and organized by the government, pretty much they gave the A OK to run the ship. Privateers also have a flag of the state on their ship and they were given rules to obey Pirates well were the exact opposite, they ran their ship and followed no rules by the government, they were not funded or authorized by the government either. Pirates would steal and over take any boats that would be in their site and they would commit theft. Privateers would only over take a ship if it was said to be okay by the government they were representing, for example they would overtake any enemy they were having conflict with but no random ships like Pirates on the other hand . (Chapter 4 82-83) The Dutch sent Samuel with a ship on an expedition to get a hold of Spanish ships. Later on though the Spanish had found out about the Dutch plans. The Dutch became very curious as to how the Spanish found out about all their plans and Pallache was than accused of betraying them and leaking information to the Spanish.
