Same sex marriage, also known as gay marriage or equal marriage is marriage between two people of the same sexual gender. Same sex marriage is legal in thirteen out of the fifty states in America. Marriage is a basic human right and a personal choice. American is about freedom, but if same sex marriage isn’t legal in some states then that violates their freedom. Love is love and nothing should get in the way of that. Same sex marriage should be legal because marriage is about loving someone whether it is a male and female or male and another male. Love is Love. When I get married, I'm gonna marry him because I love him. & When my brother gets married, he's gonna marry him because he loves him. We're gonna love our husbands no matter what their financial state is. All you need is Love (Meranda Mae Lykins) In a marriage there is one thing that truly matters: love. Yes, other things are important too, but not one couple would make it to even asking someone to marry them if there was not some love. Why are we not able to rewrite what a marriage stands for and make it include a homosexual marriage? The definition of love is as follows: “Very strong affection: an intense feeling of tender affection and compassion.” (Allie Jo). If gay people feel this way then why shouldn’t they be able to be married? If they are happy with each other they should be able to marry. One quote that Rascal Flatts shared was: We actually have some gay people that work with us, and we have a lot of friends that are gay, too, and I know that this song has inspired them... I know that coming out was tough on their parents and on them and the whole entire family. For a long time, some of them didn't get to hear 'I love you' from their dads or be accepted in that way. ... It's helped a lot of our friends... We don't judge anybody's lives (Robert Soares).
