One of the Copeland children, whose name was Roxanna, read the Bible to Amos when he was a teenager. “Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God.” Throughout his life, Amos kept this passage from the book of Revelation hidden in his heart. This scripture taught Amos that he was a king. Back home in Africa, Amos was the king of his tribe, and he still was a king to God even though he was not treated like one. Often Amos thought of this passage in the Bible and was
This intended that he was the divine Son of God and recognised as being ‘one with the Father’. Christian adherents believe of the divinity through the birth of Virgin Mary and the Son of God. Shown in the scripture passage Matthew 1:16, “and to Jacob was born Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ”, this can explicitly identify the Virgin birth, thus showing divinity. He was recognised as being human, living with normal human restrictions and sufferings however; was considered Son of God as his life, death and resurrection plays importance in humanity. Through the divinity and humanity of the Christ, Christians and believers share the stories through word of mouth.
Christianity teaches that people should not work on the day of Sabbath as God himself didn’t and that it should be the day of rest. However, Jesus didn’t follow these rules and decided to do the most loving thing and heal a sick person on this day even though he wasn’t supposed to. Some could argue that situation ethics and its ideas about love fit into Christian theology perfectly because even Jesus broke rules to do the most loving thing possible. Johns part of the gospels state that “God is love” and from this we can interpret that Christians must live their lives by trying to be Omnibenevolent and doing the most loving thing in all situations no matter how extreme. Fletcher incorporated the quote from the gospels into his ethical theory and devised six propositions and four principles.
How do we know this to be true?”. “ We have a religion that was given to us from our forefathers and has been handed down to our children. We worship in that way. It teaches us to be thankful for all the favors we receive; to love each other, and to be united. We never quarrel about religion.” “Brother, the Great Spirit has made us all, but He had made a great difference between his white and red children.
Ruth demonstrates her faithfulness to Naomi, by refusing to leave her side and displaying a strong and willing commitment to her mother-in-law (Ruth 1:15-17). Additionally we see another act of faithfulness which is shown through Boaz, he keeps his promise to take Ruth as his wife (Ruth 4:9-10). The unconditional love that God desires all of us to attain is shown through the faithfulness, kindness, honor and security within the book of Ruth. However, redemption is the fundamental theme in the book of Ruth. Boaz, Ruth’s “kinsman redeemer” rescues Ruth and Naomi from an impossible situation.
The saints known to have had particular devotions to Saint Joseph are Saint Bernard, Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Gertrude, Saint Bridget of Sweden, Saint Alphonsus ,and Saint Teresa of Avila. As the Bible tells us, Saint Joseph was descended from the royal house of David. A village carpenter of Nazareth, he was chosen among all
For that reason, she tried to service the Jews as much as they could - keeping in mind that Israel is God's chosen people, and she was to obey God's commands. She willingly followed God's plan for her, and her commitment toward God is what inspired me to write this essay in regards to the qualities that God gave Corrie, and how we should strive to obtain them for ourselves. God blessed Corrie a great heart of compassion. She loved the Jews and strived to help them every way she could. She gave up so much for the Jews, and went out of her way to make them comfortable.
The Character of Michael Hosea in Francine Rivers Redeeming Love Francine Rivers retells a story of God’s unfailing love as she writes a biblical love story. Michael Hosea the main male character in “Redeeming Love” is a representation of God’s real love for us. Michael Hosea seems to be a quite man and anything but soft. Michael is a Godly man, and he lives to serve his God. Throughout the story Michael’s will is tested, but he stands strong in what he believes and puts all his faith and trust in God.
Explained earlier, God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus. God then created a miracle, allowing Mary to be pregnant while still having her virginity. This obviously explains why God is the father of Jesus Christ. Next, God is our father, meaning he is our creator. Christians believe that we are living and moving because of God, if it was not for him we would not be here.
In the Gospel of Mark, I see Jesus, the Son of God, as a loving, faithful, obedient servant who walks in compassion; doing the will of His Father. He is a servant. His message to us all is “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). Jesus witnessed to us on how to be great, by giving our life in service to God. Jesus taught us a new definition for greatness, the word servant.
