Russia is a country in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is the largest country in the world (17,075,400 km ² or 11.46% of the total land area of Earth, or 12.65% of land populated by human, which is almost twice more than the second-ranked Canada). The population for 2011 was 142 914 136 people in the country, and now it is ranked ninth in the world on this indicator. The official language throughout the country is Russian. In 23 subjects of the federation along with the Russian other languages are used. The country’s capital is Moscow. There are 12 cities in Russia with populations over one million people: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Omsk, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Volgograd.
Russia borders with 18 countries (the largest indicator in the world), including two partially recognized; by land with the following countries: Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Abkhazia, Georgia, South Ossetia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, North Korea, and only by sea...
